We have a page devoted to events with a link on the left of this page. Do you see a need for more than that? A separate forum would provide for member input, but this has never been an issue. What am I missing?

Thanks for pointing out that link. It is hardly noticeable and does not allow for any discussion.
I agree with sweetlife that such a forum would be a good idea. I did a quick count and 11 of the topics in the announcements section related to events. Obviously the authors of these topics felt some discussion was appropriate.
