I’m in the market for a new laptop now, so this is helpful.
I want a Macbook, but that’s just not in my budget.
My personal opinion is that mac is superior — and now that you can run Windows stuff on it, even better. Without my laptop, I am using my ancient mac. It’s about 8 years old, and not the fastest, but I’ve not had a single issue with it. Both of my laptops have been unusable within 3 years of use.
That’s just me though. I assume my next laptop will be windows/vista.

Our old laptop died in July so we have been running on a Vista machine since then. All our programs seem to be running just fine. The only thing we have not been able to get to work is our GPS’s abbility to communicate with our Streets and Trips software.
Keep in mind that new laptops do not have serial ports in them so if your GPS is an older model, you will need to get a serial to USB adaptor. The one we had did not have a driver update to Vista and therefore did not work. We ended up upgrading our GPS a month later but still cannot get the new one to communicate with Streets and Trips.
