The new Magellan contest started today. Go to the Magellan website to register. Looks like the first 2 cities of the 30, are in the Southwest/West U.S.
Last year, one of the cities was Milwaukee.

These guys have nothing to do with Sun Prairie…. (Darn. That would be soooo cool to have a leg of this here!!!)
I have to agree with the Hall of Fame idea that is listed. Either that or did they all have something to do with the UW campus in Madison?

05/25/2005 at 2:15 am #1738025If this contest is like last year some of the info might be mixed up between the others. Sun city in the second adventure. It could be by the ice age trail? Who knows. Uncle fun are you going to let someone else win – – – please- help the Wizards

I had just checked out magellen a couple weeks ago to see if they were running another one
Hope one or more is in Wisconsin again It was great fun treking all the way from Madison to Milwaukee and to find it not to long after the first ‘wave’

I do recall the many stories my father told me of my great-great-grandfather´s adventures in that area. A certain part of the story has stuck with me, since it made no sense at the time: “Your great-great-grandfather was Doused with Whitewater along the Southern Unit while exploring the Old World,” my father would repeat.
From the Brookfield REI website:
Ice Age Trail A difficult, 2.6-mile one-way hike along switchbacks, passing hickory and aspen on this sharp ridgeline in Kettle Moraine State Forest- Southern Unit.
Looking at the maps, the trail goes right Past “Whitewater”. It is in KM forest “Southern Unit”. The “Ice Age” Trail could certainly be considered “Old World”.
Sure Seems like a place to start…
05/25/2005 at 3:18 pm #1738029Doused made me think of Dousman and Old World reminded me of Old World Wisconsin. Which is pretty much inbetween Dousman and Whitewater.. Ice Age Trail makes sense too for Old World…
Fun Fun Fun
05/25/2005 at 3:29 pm #1738030Just another tidbit- There is a John Muir trail in the souther KM forest as well.
John Muir is one of the names mentioned in the first clue.
05/25/2005 at 3:36 pm #1738031Anyone else having problems posting a note on the magellan website? I keep getting ‘site maintenance’ message, yet I see new posts ever few minutes or so. Not just by the Paul Afetta character too
05/25/2005 at 3:39 pm #1738032On the topic of the John Muir trail, I found this website: http://my.execpc.com/~jwamser/KettleSouth.html
There is a trail map posted there. Might be of use for clues if it is infact in that area.
05/25/2005 at 3:43 pm #1738033Bounus clue from REI: The nearby totem brightly points the way.
