Always nice to have more caches for an event and Mirror Lake is interested in there being more caches placed.
Who want to lead this either by finding locals to hide the caches or placing them themselves?
Locals (from the Member Map): Moose Goober (Sauk City), Sandlanders (Hi Pat), Hide and Seekers, Sloughfoot, Hotdogs
Commander and August, are you interested in taking this on? You 2 on the committee are closest. Pat (Sandlanders) has mentioned placing a cache in another forum topic.

04/09/2014 at 12:46 am #1975602I am planning to get down to Mirror Lake to place a few caches this coming weekend. I will be focusing mostly on the Northwest Trail area and areas west and south of there, and am working on a cache that will involve the natural area in the Fern Dell Gorge (assuming it gets approved). I don’t have much time otherwise to get in there before the event as I am headed out on a training deployment in late April.
04/09/2014 at 1:28 am #1975603Thanks Rick and August also plans to place a few after his vacation.
Keep in touch with each other so you don’t end up placing them on top of each other. I’m looking forward to exploring the park in a few weeks.Following the signals from space.

Fern Dell Gorge? Ooh, that sounds pretty! Almost every time I’ve been to Mirror Lake has been at night so I look forward to seeing it during the day. Thanks for placing the caches!

04/12/2014 at 3:42 am #1975606Hi Guys. Back from a three week relative visit and MOGA attendance in Ohio and West Virginia. We will be able to help with some cache placements in the park. Which areas need some help??
04/12/2014 at 5:02 pm #1975607I was planning to head down there today to concentrate on the Northwest Trail and across the street in the Beaver Pond area/Fern Dell Trail. However, the nastiness of the thunderstorms has kept me away. I think from a “showing off the park” standpoint there should be some more placements along the Ishnala Trail.
04/19/2014 at 2:54 am #1975608OK, 7 have been placed and that is probably all I will get done. The caches won’t publish for a while, so here are the coords for anyone who is planning to put more in so you don’t spin your wheels. My cache pages have been written up, but they have not been submitted for review.

I think that we can likely paddle up and down Dell Creek from Mirror Lake, so hopefully there will be a couple decent spots where a cache could be placed. We shall see…
04/21/2014 at 1:14 am #1975610Let us know Rick and then we can look at renting boats form the park for the Saturday of the campout.

04/23/2014 at 10:06 pm #1975611Went up this morning with the lil hippies and chatted with the Park Manager. She is excited to have us putting out the new caches and gave me some ideas of areas to use. She’s also very happy to have us help out with a CITO, looks like it’ll probably be pulling garlic mustard as the friends group is doing a trash pickup the week before we are there.
We put out caches along the Hastings Trail, including a couple of traditionals, puzzle, multi & an evil monkey LBH . Also scouted at least two spots near the event location so if people want to stay nearby they can. I’m hoping to develop one or two earth caches as well before the event, but we’ll see as they haven’t approved my last couple.
04/23/2014 at 10:12 pm #1975612Way to go August, that’s great!

04/25/2014 at 1:49 pm #1975614It looks like I am going to be braving the cold weather forecasted for tomorrow and heading onto the mirror with my kayak. The park manager gave me an idea centered on an area that is locally called The Devil’s Post Office and may be able to be turned into some sort of a water based offset cache. Unfortunately it sounds as if that area is not open to foot travel, so all may not be able to enjoy it. Stay tuned….
04/26/2014 at 1:31 am #1975615That’s great! Actually, a few of us were talking about a water cache or two for the campout. I think that would be really cool.
