There is a new 13 cache series in Whitewater.
The series was placed by the tourism council there in support of geocaching in their community. In light of places like Brown and Dane County, I hope we can show some appreciation for the municipalities that actually support us like this ❗ Plus it’s near some great caches in Kettle Moraine if you haven’t done them all yet. 😀
06/10/2007 at 12:49 am #1875723Well I know what I’m doing tomorrow morning…. 😛
I think a visit to my old stomping grounds is in order.06/10/2007 at 2:51 am #1875724One of the caches in the series may be missing and it won’t get checked on until Monday – although anyone is welcome to go try to find it anyway.
But a geocacher with any experience won’t need it to find the final.

I’m halfway to the solution on that final mystery and I havent left the house yet 😈
06/10/2007 at 1:40 pm #1875726This was a nice series. The whole thing took about an hour and a half.
I did not go look for Cravath Lakefront ( GC12YZQ ) as there were reports that it was missing and I DNF’d Prairie Tillers Mural ( GC12YZV ). I’m pretty sure the coords are off on this one.
This was a great series and it WILL bring people to the city. I was surprised how much new stuff is there since I graduated 10 or so years ago.
I recommend doing this in the early morning or on a weekend as some of these hides are a bit public.
06/10/2007 at 7:50 pm #1875727An hour and a half? Wow. Took me over twice that, due to many naked caches. There was one I went back three times to get. I did get the mural one, and the coords are off. I didn’t find one other, or even look for the disabled cache. Neat series, though I wonder how long several of those will last.

I was wondering the same thing that’s why I recommend doing this series on a weekend or early morning. Doing so will help parts of this series last a bit longer.
06/10/2007 at 8:29 pm #1875729All coordinates were taken with a 60CX and averaged at least 50 times. Perhaps the fact the the coords for the mural were taken right next to a tall building with a mural on it threw them off a bit….

06/13/2007 at 12:56 am #1875731A big thank you to LightningBugs Mum for taking on this project.
The staff of Whitewater Recreation spoke to me in Nov 06 about creating a series of caches for their Tourism dept. I asked LightningBugs Mum, being a local, if she would be willing to assist them.
I am sure they are pleased with the visitors their project has realized already.
Thank you!

Yes, they are very excited about how well the series has been received.
Update: the missing cache may need to be relocated a little bit. We will try to get that done quickly, but the woman who is running this project isn’t in the office every day. It’s a matter of arranging schedules so we can meet up there again.
06/15/2007 at 11:48 am #1875733I travel up to Jefferson WI regularly to visit my MOM and this (seemingly) quick series of cache’s will be nice to put in a day of traveling.
Thanks for posting the series TeamLightningBug! It is great to have it all in one place to download!
😀
06/15/2007 at 12:16 pm #1875734Agreed! In all this is a great series and thanks for placing it and bringing it to our attention.
06/15/2007 at 9:15 pm #1875735Yes, thank you much. Will be down soon to get the other two.
