I’ve been geocaching in my free time (what little of it there is) for a few months now. Found this site and decided to become a member. My wife joins me on all my caching endeavors, but she would not consider herself a “Geocacher”. I research the cache, man the GPS, and log the visit when we’re done. She just comes along and helps me search when we get there.

If you have give her the chance to watch your progress on the GPS map, help with the navigation on the way to the cache, and check on your speed as you are driving; then, Now may be the time to buy her a GPS of her own. Kind of like the one you really want and a little better than the one you use.

Show her how to down-load way points and then hit the trails with dead batteries in your GPS so that she has to do all the navigating (with your expert advice). You will have her hooked. She will carry the GPS with her to mark where she parked at the mall. Yada, yada.

My wife does most of the driving on our geocaching adventures, mostly because she doesn’t like to navigate. She drives 100% of the time when we are visiting a new area. She feels like more of a team member this way (and we get lost a lot less when at least ONE person is trying to navigate.) Now, if I could just get her to slow down below 65 when I say, “The parking area is a quarter mile ahead”…..
