I just wanted to say Hello. I started geocaching back in 2006 and only found 6. I liked it but it went south. Now I am back into with a friend and it makes it much more enjoyable. Even hid a few at the beginning of the month QC2ENJQ Grundy Canyon, Cascading Waterfall. Someone nominated it for cache of the month which brought my attention to this site. I went to the September Geocoin Event 2010 in the cities and that was somewhat intimidating with my lack of knowledge. I signed up to go to the West Bend event in August 2011 which I think has more to do with caching not collecting. I am thinking of getting some pathtags made up next year. See you out there and Happy Caching.

As for the poll, they’re an excellent choice for trade if you’re at an event or meeting up with other cachers. If you have your own made up, some just hand them out to others with no intentions of getting one in return. Some drop them in their own hides, and some drop them in other caches. When people give us their own pathtags, we consider it an honor, and keep them as a memento of good caching friends. (We don’t have our own to trade.)

If you’re talking about swag trade, if you see one in a cache and want to pick it up, you should definitely leave something (doesn’t have to be a pathtag) in return. If you have one you want to leave in a cache (yours or one you have picked up), it’s worth a trade if you want to take something from the cache.

First, Welcome to the WGA, and back to geocaching! Congrats on the COTM nomination as well.

I don’t collect pathtags, but still think they are pretty cool. I know many people who love to trade them.

Thanks for the tips guys. Those are actually really cool. I dont know if I’d collect them, but giving them out and leaving them in caches is really cool. Like your own calling card, geo-style.

So yeah, I got sucked in and designed my own and ordered up 50 to start. It was too hard to resist. 😆 I’ve always been looking for something consistant and personalized to drop into deserving caches. Thanks for pointing me there.

I will post an image once I get the official blueprint sent back to me from the site. (that way I have an address to link the image too as well)

the 4-6 weeks for delivery is gonna kill me though. 🙁

I was going to order some pathtags too but I thought I should wait till next year. I wanted to try and design my own if possible instead of paying someone $30 to design one. I will probably end up doing that because of my lack of artistic ability. Then again stick men can cache too. 😆 Thanks for the info so far.

I just used Adobe Photoshop to insert images, move things, stretch things and type text into the blank form that pathtags provides. It came out pretty good, but we will have to see how that translates into an actual coin. I agree with you, paying someone to do it isnt worth it, IMHO. Its part of the adventure and personalization to try and design it your self anyway. isnt it???

I have been designing pathtags for a few individuals reciently, and have done quite a few for Valarie also. It takes me a bit longer as I have a full time job and do this as a side project. Im also a bit cheaper though, I have only been charging $20 and 2 of the tags (one for me and one for Val’s collection)

I believe I saw one of your coins (the Loon one) over on the pathtags website Sweetlife, very nice. Now that kind of artistry would be worth the $20. Nicely done.
