looking through some eBay listings and found a link to the following site:

knowing all we know about the geocaching rules for placement, does this appear to be another way to play the game or something that is bound to stir up grief in the community??

I take it you’re working today, Labrat? 😉

Well, my first takeaway from what I checked out was… BURIED! Play your game like you want to, but it’s too similar to our game, and if this becomes widespread, I foresee lots of headaches. People already think geocaching is looking for buried treasure, which it is not, so now they will think so even more when they confuse geocaching with this other game, which seems to BE looking for buried treasure… 😕 🙄

Wow-what could possibly go wrong? I’m sure parks will love having people bury stuff (called “caches”) so other people can come and dig for them.  This could turn into a real nightmare if it catches on.

Boy oh boy! What were those people thinking when they came up with this one? Buried treasure? And calling them “geocaches?” Didn’t Jeremy Irish have the foresight to get copyright on that term? It won’t take many parks getting dug up to undo all the hard work folks like CommanderUSN have been doing with area park boards.

    Glad we have other hobbies.

not sure they call them “Geocache” but cache which simply means a hiding place, especially one in the ground, for ammunition, food, treasures, etc.

but certainly playing off the concept.

okay, I guess this isn’t as new as I thought but it is the first time I have come across it.
GC.com has a thread from 2012 about it so, it is relatively new… just not sure how much wind it has beneath its wings.

Early morning on a rainy holiday, and Labrat is researching the internets and posting on the WGA website. Yep. He’s at work! 😉

I wonder why all of the ones in Wisconsin are in Eau Claire?  What has Becca been up too up there? LOL
