Attending a gathering a close friends and enjoying a fine meal (the beef tenderloin and cheesy potatoes being the stars). Following will likely be a Wii tournament. At midnight we’ll probably toast the new year (there might be some bubbly, or soda, or nothing), and then we’ll all probably head home for some sleep.

    Not exciting, but lovely.

We will have about 20 High School Juniors and Seniors at our home for the evening. I’m sure that it will be fine. πŸ™„

It will be fine, right? Nothing could go wrong.

    Could it? 😯 ❓ πŸ™‚

You will be chaperoning the event, won’t you?
You’ve survived 16-18 years of your kids and their friends… What’s a few more hours?

Well, that reminds me of a New Years eve party I went to way back in high school. For some reason, this girl’s mom and dad thought it would be a good idea to leave her home when they flew out of town for the holidays. The beer and champaign were flowing reel good that night. The neighbors called the police. The carpet and furniture were thoroughly soaked. The next day, we went back to clean up the mess with shampooers and the works. Her mom and dad came back that evening and all was well and good. Except for a couple of damp spots and the neighbors narking her out, they wouldn’t have known. We even impressed ourselves.

I promised myself at that time, that I would never leave my kids at home for any extended time.

Our plan so far is to stay home try a new dinner recipe possibly bringing out the chocolate fondue and margarita maker. πŸ˜€

We haven’t been to a bar in about 3-4 yrs on new years too dangerous. So most likely stay home unless someone has a get together. No one will make the long drive to our house. Closest friends live 30-45 minutes away πŸ™

    Yeah,

I’m not really worried. We’ll be home. Now though, after several parents were worried about the kids being on the roads going home at 1AM with all the drunks- and after realizing I’d rather not have my kids on the road if the situation were reversed- everyone’s staying over! So, I’m thinking there will be very little sleep for Mrs. OPS and myself. πŸ˜•

Ah well, we’ve set up my workshop as a video game “cave”. We have an original Nintendo, a N64, a Gamecube, a PS2, a PS3, and a working RCA Studio 2 (you’ll all have to google that one I’ll bet πŸ˜€ ). There’s plenty of other stuff to do downstairs too.

I’ll just have to see if I still have what it takes to play Space War on the Studio II.

😯 ARRGG!!! New plans! I still have to clean cages, but I also have to finish logging all the virtuals from our trip in October! I have to get that done before the new year starts!

Ah, yes, I remember throwing a party while the parents were away for a day. Good friends, a couple spiked watermelons, alot of laughs, and a great cleanup crew in the morning. When my parents got home, it took about 2 minutes before my Mom said, “The next time you clean up after a party, remember to clean the chunks of watermelon off the ceiling!”

    OOOPS!! πŸ˜•
