Newbie Question

Hi everybody!

After reading the great article in the Milwaukee journal about geocaching I thought my kids and I should give it a try. So here is my question. Next week we are going camping at Mauthe lake and I would like to know how I find out about caching location in the area. The Wisconsin map on the site seems a little to difficult for me to narrow down my search. Any help or tips would be great.

Try this:

Go to http://www.geocaching.com/seek/

Enter the zip for the area you are interesed in and you should get a bunch of caches that meet your criteria… Print out the one’s that sound good and give it a shot!!

There are alot of great caches out there! If you don’t mind, when will you be at Mauthe Lake? We will be camping in that area several times in the next few weeks and would be more than happy to meet up with you and find a couple of caches if you’d like. Post here or email me at [email protected] .

Another way to narrow your search is to use the maps here: http://www.brillig.com/geocaching/wisconsin.shtml
Pick the area of the state where you will be and click on either a specific dot (geocache) or a square to zoom in further.

We are going up Thursday and staying the weekend. As much as I would like to meet up and learn some things from you, my time is gonna be very limited, but thank you for the offer.

Hope you had a great time! We ended up heading north instead this weekend so it wouldn’t have worked out anyway! Let us know how your first caches went! I think its great fun and I’m now finally getting my entire family involved.
