My thought on when a cacher “should” place a cache is never if they don’t want to. Can you imagine the crappy caches if cachers were obligated to place them?

I think Johnny Cache would just throw his “into the Sheen” along with that pesky (and incriminating) rifle.

I’m not a very good cache hider myself (I do all those really typical hides), so I don’t have too many. I’ve had ideas for some more, but who knows if they will come to fruition.

    Good point.

For me, hiding them is even more fun than finding them. I think that folks that havent had the experience of finding just the perfect spot yet, are missing out a bit.

    Here’s one I looked for last week…. GC1F45B

The cache owner has found one cache and placed one….it now has three DNFs in a row and no finders.

Update. This has been found…and only 500 feet from where it is supposed to be located…in fact it now is 15 feet away from a brand new cache just placed and yet to be found….um reviewers I see an issue here…..

Uh…yup. We were on our way out west this morning and thought we’d give it a go. Knew the area pretty well so we approached it from the north and then we saw a few pine trees and a sign that said Pella Park.

Found the cache, signed the log, got to the hotel to get on the computer, noticed others had tried it b/c there are other new caches in the area that popped up after we were already on the road.

    Cache has already been archived.

It worked out fine for us, but a real waste for Lostby7 and any others who took a stab at a cache that was over .1 mile from the posted coordinates. 😡

AND, it wasn’t off by just one number in the coordinates, it was on a big diagonal, so who knows what the heck was going on!!!

Fortunately there are lots of people who feel this way, or there would be nothing for everyone to do.

    😳 😳 😳

I’m guilty of something like this. I had a cache that was off by 4209.7 feet. Fat fingers. Instead of 91* 19.xxx I had punched in 18.xxx 😯 😯 😕 😳 🙄 OPPPS!

I’m glad I didn’t get up at 5am leaving my family at camp to go look for that one too…….

The difference being, you would have fixed the coordinates after the first few DNFs. And you probably would have responded to the emails I would have sent you before I attempted this cache, unlike this cache owner.

Here’s one to watch if you like to watch DNFs get logged: GC1EHJB. Originally published as a 1.5/2.

I could tell you the lengths that Peach went through to find this one…but I won’t. Remember, anyone with over 500 finds “should of found this by now.” Any takers????
