Check out the LCG scoreboard–lots of activity, lots of players. Not even halfway through the month yet, and there’s a real horse race on.

For the month of January, we are currently tied with the Silver and Bronze medalists from all of 2008. Awesome! 8)

Great to see the number of participants in January so far! It’s a wide open race with two weekends left, and this old horse will be staying close to home.

We decided to fill out a few forms once we realized that, hey, we actually did a bunch of these over the weekend! A few more to log yet and that will be it for the month.

Truthfully we have no serious interest in the LCG game because 1) we really have no desire to get into a “competition” with others and 2) we don’t want to be on the receiving end of some of the snide comments we’ve seen made here and elsewhere against leaders/winners if by some miracle we would actually win a month

Just so’s you know, no need to fear us in the rear view mirror.

When I started playing the LCG in November, it was shortly after a forum thread about “Goalsetting”. So, I decided to limit my caching in November to Lonely Caches. I didn’t know enough about the game to be competitive but after about 7 or 8 lonelies, I realized that the locations that these caches are in are very unique! By finding them (and making sure they are physically there) it makes for better caching for all.
I also knew that the winter snows were coming and it would be colder and wetter soon.
The goal in December was to try to finish in the top 5 for the year. The deep snow made it tougher, but it worked out in the end.
January’s goal? Find some lonelies, and some regulars, and hide another series of caches.
We have been working on containers since before Christmas to put together a nice grouping of caches for winter-friendly finds. Attending “Only the Lonely” was the other goal for the month.
Competition is OK but achieving goals is more satisfying for us. If some sniping and banter occur, it is part of the game.
For those that don’t want to submit the LCG finds, that’s great. But don’t eliminate them from the list. The locations are fantastic!

Boy, I just might have to make a trek Northwest. There be a Triplepoint cache but I don’t think one could find it under all the snow. There are quite a few up there that I have not found and a few puzzles that I have solved……Hmmmmmmmmmm?!?!

There’s a nice little cluster of caches that sound really cool way up near Moose Junction, but Trekkin’ is balking. So have at ’em!

Ya, that’s where I’m looking at, but I think I need to spend my free time planting a few caches for my event in a couple of weeks. That triple pointer is a tuff one. I been to the starting location during the summer, I think it would be almost imposiable in the winter as would ” My Chlorestrol is What?” But I’m sure it be very pertty this time of year along the river.

watch out, gotta run is setting the pace for the rest of the pack…. some great cache finds in their recent (and yet to be) submitted points.

It’s great to see so many names on the list for January and so many with multiple reports.

still a bitter cold week left in January…

Yes, gotta run is realing “running”! But even more impressive is that 34 of the last 40 cache finds were puzzles, with several of those tough s/s caches in the mix, including 5 of those on Event day.

    And 1K is fast approaching…

Well, the month isn’t over yet.

Besides, our motives are completely altruistic. We are simply leaving footprints to follow for the next finders.

All right, seriously now. As I said previously, we set off to solve a bunch of puzzles (ya know, I just hate having those ?s on the screen ) after Packer games got somewhat less than interesting.

After solving all of Marc’s puzzles, we looked for something more challenging . And, it just so happens that a lot of brain-benders are lonely. Well, the snowball started rolling down the hill, the gravitational pull of 1,000 started to be felt, yadda yadda yadda….
