So, only a week left to officially register for this event…

Convince us to come, other than Jeremy’s Banana Marshmallow Salad and the Signal plushie door prize. 8)

    2. The observation tower is cool.
    3. Many good people to hang out with.
    4. Maybe Jeff T. will bring his M & M Salad again.
    5. Cool & creative temporary caches.
    6. Several Permanent caches.

    8. More good food than you can shake a stick at.
    9. Cache rich area near the park if you get bored inside of the park.
    10. I heard somebody promise good weather.

I have it on good authority that Jeff T will indeed be bringing the famous M&M salad.

Need more info on that M & M salad before making any serious commitments.

Liked reasons #3, 8, 10, and 12, but need a few more people to cite reason #13 to us.

Oh, and that “somebody else” in reason #12? Need you to sign that guarantee in blood — squeezed from a million skeeter bodies to whom you have donated so that they won’t be hungry at the picnic!

I’m sorry, but that information is only available to those that actually attend the picnic. Trust me, it’s worth it to show up just for this salad.

    Hmm-mmmmm…

It seems to me that only the WGA High Poobahs possess this information…

    Must ponder our options.

I am often asked about the origin of the M&M salad. Some parts can be told, others I will take to the grave.

I was traveling alone on I43 north in the early darkness of an October 2004 day en route to a geocache outing in Green Bay hosted by team ‘Whats Next?’.

It was in a fog creeping in from Lake Michigan that I heard a voice that said ‘ummm, you remember that the event is pot luck — you need to bring something’. Like a revelation on the road to Damascus, a vision of the M&M salad was given to me.

When I arrived at the event with the salad constructed as in the vision, several attendees pointed and said “uhhhh… what’s that?”.

As I opened the container, several people saw dots before their eyes. Some saw splashes of color. Others saw a variety of Ms Es Ws and 3s floating in the salad. The best puzzle people are still trying find the significance of those symbols.

Since then, I have always brought an M&M salad to similar events. Often I am not allowed to attend unless I bring one.

Many doubt this story. They ask why a man whose single cooking skill is burning water was given the gift. I can only explain that I am merely the messenger.

My wife did that once… we had to toss the pot.

    Really I’m not kidding

I tried cooking once … I had to toss something too, but it wasn’t the container I cooked in.

Thanks goodness! You didn’t use just the green ones for the salad! (Or am I assuming too much?)

The tale of the salad’s origins has whetted my appetite. It might be worth the trip southeast…

From the WGA Picnic Events page:

“This is a family event, and all participants are requested to act accordingly.”

Now I notice an after party on Sunday. The donuts sound really tempting…
