    Hi,

For some reason, I can’t upload waypoints to my GPSr from GSAK anymore. I’m sure I fiddled with something or other, but darned if I know what.

Anyone out there that can give me some suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Bec

    Bec,

At the risk of getting a virtual slap here’s a couple of ideas…

You are connecting the gps via usb/serial?

Is the usb/serial cable connected to the computer?

Try starting GSAK. Then click on “GPS” at the top of the window/click “setup”/fill in the blanks accordingly/
    possibly you changed something here?

That’s all I can come up with for now.. Any help?

    Lemme’ know!

No slaps from me — sometimes I fail to see the most obvious of problems (story of my life!)

Yep — everything is connected correctly. Then I checked GPS setup. The brand is correct, but how to I check that I am using the corrct Communitcations port and Port speed? Currently it is setup for COM3 and 9600 on GSAK. How do I check that it is the same on my GPSr?

Ya know, I though that a year into this I would know what I’m doing. Turns out to be not so much!!

Hi Bec…not sure if you got the answer or not but if you’re still using your sportrak try this:
go to your menu and then into your setup menu, next go to Baud Rate and set your GPSR from there. You have my number so if you need more help with that just call.

Sorry I couldn’t come to the chatroom (darn job keeps making me get up so bloody early!)

I still have my SporTrak Map.

Thanks Linus! I did change the baud rate on my GPSr, so I think all is good now. Haven’t tried to upload yet but if I run into problems, I know who to call!!

i had something like that happen with my 60 and GSAK. the waypoints were actually in there, but didn’t show up under find waypoints or geocaches. they did show up when i ran nearest. i think it got fixed with an update on GSAK

Still having trouble here. I’m getting this message:

    Error Sending Waypoints
MAGPROTO cannot open ‘COM3’ for write. Error was ‘Permission denied’.

I switched to COM1 and got the same error message.

    Any more help?

Just for fun Bec, why don’t you try re-installing the latest version(5.04) of GSAK.. Then try it again…

    Sounds like a gpsbabel problem….

Let us know if this works…

    nope, same problem…..

Do you get the same error message even with the gps not connected to the cable? Your pc’s serial port is usually assigned as COM1 & 9600 baud. If this is set differently, I would expect the error message you received.

    Other ideas-
Have you tried reseting your unit to the factory defaults?

I.E. -select “Setup”, then “clear memory”, then “reset to factory default”

After confirming, the unit shout shut off & upon restart will re-initialize. Then give it a try.

Another possible reset options is with the unit off, hold the “menu”, “enter”, and then the “power” button- so that you end by holding all 3 buttons for several seconds. This works on a meridian, i’m not sure about sportrac.
