Thanks, Jeremy.
While it may be going overboard to say that members don’t have faith in those monitoring the elections, it it nice to know that things are being watched. You have to realize that most of the working of the BOD are invisible to the general membership, so it’s nice to have things spelled out once in a while.
When the difference between becoming a member of the BOD or not is decided by two votes, even one or two bogus votes CAN make a difference. While you believe that a problem doesn’t and hasen’t existed, it does not mean that it can’t and won’t exist. I do, however, believe that if such a problem ever arises, the BOD will notice it and take appropriate measures.
Edited for grammer cuz I don’t talk good sometimes.
I really believe that everyone who voted did so with the intent of electing the most qualified candidates. Remember that all eight who ran did so because of deep interest in geocaching and the WGA. Regardless of who won we would have had a well qualified BOD. If there were a need to do any scrutinizing it would be at the nomination level. I’m not sure that Jeremy’s classifying me as a well known SE Wisconsin geocacher is correct, but it was my wife(Sunshine) who opened her own account in January so she could vote. It also gives her an individual identity that she wanted because of the large number of events that we attend. I also recently added her name to our geocaching.com name. We personally talked to every candidate running between January 1 and the election because we wanted to cast informed votes. We participated in the election because it is our interest to have Wisconsin geocachers represented by the most qualified candidates.
Update on the progress of this proposal: This was discussed by the board last Sunday, and there was no second, as there was no evidence for a need for a change.
