The antique gold regular edition geocoin:

Other finishes and the mico eggs:

I am starting reservations for sales of my personal geocoin. What I will have available for sale will be Antique Silver pairs and Antique Gold pairs. Each pair is a regular 2″ WI coin and a matching (silver or gold) 1.25″ micro egg. Each pair sells for $14.50 plus $2.00 shipping on the first pair and additional 50 cents each for any other pairs. If we can work out local delivery shipping is not an issue.

I will also have complete sets available with include an Antique Silver pair, and Antique gold pair and a LE Copper/glitter pair (only 50 minted). These complete 6 coin sets sell for $43.50 plus $3.00 shipping and handling. The LE copper pairs are only available as a part of the complete set.
International shipping is an additional $1.00.

I am going to take reservations and send out invoices as I have time. You may receive an invoice soon, but no payment is required until I have been told that the coins have been shipped from the mint. I will send reminders to those who have not paid at that time. I am hoping to have the coins by the week of the 17th, but that may be being optimistic!

If you wish to reserve a coin please e-mail me at [email protected] with the following information:

    1. Full Name
    2. UserID
    3. E-Mail Address
    4. Paypal Address
    5. Requested Metals and Quantity

Thanks for your interest in my personal geocoin! – Robin

I recently received the 6 coin set and they are great. However, I have one little problem. I am unable to retrieve activation codes for the 3 large WI shaped coins from thecachingplace.com. I get an error that the tracking numbers do not exist. The egg shaped micro coins all worked fine. I have sent a couple of emails to the cachingplace but no response. Has anyone else had trouble getting the activation codes for these coins? I can’t believe I got the only three coins that don’t work.

    You are not alone,
I too have one large Wi_Robin geocoin that came up with the “not in database” error. Fortunately, I have one that did give me a code, and yes the micro eggs both had codes. I guess I don’t know which way to turn either.

    Anyone??????

If you check the WI_Robin geocoin thread on gc forums there is a big problem with the large coins and you should email the caching place with the coins numbers and what kind of errror it is saying. I guess some are not in the data base and some have numbers all ready issued to other coins. They are working on the problem and do not have a solution yet. I all so have one that is not in the data base.

Here is the email response I got back from the caching place a few days ago.

I’m sorry for the code problem! Our mint has made an error with some of the
Robin coins. We are in the process of trying to find out exactly how to
resolve the issue. Once I know more, I will contact you and let you know.
Did you just have the one coin? If there are others, please send me those
    numbers as well.

Thanks for your help and understanding.

Sorry that I didn’t post here immediately. Here is what I know as posted on the geocaching.com forums:

    Update from The Caching Place:

First let’s update everyone on the “activation” issues!! We have determined that the mint messed up BIG time and made some changes to our master file of codes. Their “mistake” ended up creating a new set of codes that were engraved on the coins but of course not recognized by our database!

We contacted Bryan at Groundspeak to see if he can help us resolve this issue by adding this “new” set of codes into the database to replace the original codes….what a sweetheart, although it’s huge process on their end, he has agreed to help us try and resolve the problem!

Making this change will enable the “majority” of folks to get activation codes for the coins they have in hand now. It will not however be a total cure….there will still be a handful of coins that we will need to replace.

At this point in time we still do not have all the details ironed out, it would be a good idea to hold off on making trades on this coin set for awhile. We’ll post an update here in the forums once we have a few more details. As I mentioned, it’s a huge process for Bryan to “search” the database to be certain that these ‘new’ codes are not being “duplicated”, so it could take awhile for them to complete this task!

    Thanks for your patience!

    Georgia & Sharon

If you can not retrieve an activation code please e-mail The Caching Place. They will make it right one way or the other. Here is a link to the topic on the national forums: http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=165745&pid=3094123&st=100&#entry3094123

Please recognise that this is a factory error, no fault of The Caching Place. The factory somehow scrambled the numbers to make up new ones. How or why I am not sure. I do know however that Georgia and Sharon from The Caching Place will make sure that everyone gets a coin with a good activation code, it is just going to take a little time.

I did email The Caching Place and a big thanks to Georgia and to Robin for the update.
A big thanks to Bryan at Groundspeak for his part in the fix, too.

If you have a WI_Robin geocoin it must be sent back. All coins, even ones that currently “work” must be sent back – Regular coins and the micro eggs. If you have activated your coin it will be “deactivated” by groundspeak and the tracking number reused. So please return any coins that you have. You will be refunded shipping and sent new coins once they are re-minted. Thanks – Robin

Latest update from The Caching Place:

As some of you know, there was a critical code error made by the mint. The engraver at the mint accidently incremented the codes on the excel list instead of “copying” them. By incrementing them, the original codes with numbers were changed and then engraved on the coins. We were hoping that Groundspeak would be able to add these new codes into the database so that folks would then be able to retrieve activation codes. Turns out that this would be a HUGE undertaking and would still not solve the additional problem of “duplicate” codes.

The only real solution is for us to re-mint the entire order engraved with “new” codes. This means that we will need to “recall” all of the Wisconsin Robin coins, in all versions. We understand that this is an inconvenience and we are very sorry. We realize that trades and sales may have been made and would appreciate it, if you have made such a transaction, that you contact those individuals and ask them to please return the coin/s to us for new “replacement” coin/s. We will reimburse the cost of 1st class mail to return the coins.

Please include your name, address and paypal email so we can credit your account.

These coins were sold in several metals and came as a set, which included one large coin and a small micro egg coin. There were also some LE sets (6 coins) and some XLE sets that were available directly with Robin. The entire set must be returned for a replacement set. If you’ve split up your set in a trade, return the coin you have and that one will be replaced. It will take about 30 days for these coins to be re-minted. Once we receive the coins we will begin shipping them out to those who have sent their coins back.

    Please send your coins to:
    The Caching Place Inc.
    5689 Cotton Ridge Cir
    Murray, Utah 84107

We appreciate your help and understanding and please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. There were some orders recently purchased that were held until we figured this out, we will be sending emails out on those orders.

    Thanks for your help!!

Got my replacement coins. They look great. Activated a couple of them and I see that the large WI coin and the micro egg both have the same icon. Weren’t the micro coins also supposed to have their own icon? Just curious.

No, it was stated on the forums and the sales page that the WI coins and the micro eggs share an icon. The coins do have two icons – the WI/Robin icon will appear on your profile when you log the coin. The egg will appear on the cache page when the coin is placed there. The reason for this is the icon on the cache page is so small the WI/Robin would not show up to well. Sorry for any confusion.
