We have this for our auto navigation, but it began behaving strangely. We’ll be driving along when it suddenly decides to shut off, then start up as if it’s connected to the computer, navigate for a bit, then do this whole process again. And again. It is completely unpredictable and unreliable this way. I have done a hard reset several times with no change. I just tried connecting it to the site to update the software and it does the same thing.
Any ideas? I really think for that money, the stupid thing should work a bit longer than a year or two.
08/30/2015 at 7:46 pm #2042509I just had the same issue on our way back from the boundary waters, luckily I knew my way home. I got home and just plugged it into the computer a few times and cleared the memory. Seems to be stable right now and working flawlessly.
08/31/2015 at 7:50 pm #2042526As my post said, I tried those things with no change. I was hoping maybe someone here might have had this problem and could suggest something different to try. Glad you were able to get yours back in line that way.

Central Time (Closed Holidays)09/01/2015 at 7:00 am #2042530I did send them an email. They suggested I download the new software. We’ll see. I tried to do that the other day, too, and the darn thing did the same stuff while connected to the computer.
09/04/2015 at 3:57 pm #2042616I jinxed myself after saying it was fixed, I used it the other day for a trip I had and I bumped the cable and it acted up. I’m thinking my issue is a bad cable.
09/11/2015 at 1:24 pm #2042775After some back and forthing and trying a couple things with the support folks at Garmin, it seems that the USB connection on the back of the device is damaged. Probably one too many dashboard dives when being forced to make sudden stops or something. Looks like we either buy a new one or go back to the good old days of navigation (which we like to do every now and then, just so we remember how!)
