just got a nuvi and am trying to generate a poi file from gsak. the macro processes, but the file doesn’t show up in the designated location. i’m using windows 7 on a mac boot camp partition.
help please?12/31/2009 at 6:05 pm #1919079i tried this again using my windows xp in my fusion partition. and got it to work.
is there a way to put multiple custom poi’s into the unit without erasing the previous ones?
12/31/2009 at 8:54 pm #1919080The macro I found and use will allow you to add multiple GSAK databases to the Nuvi and when you go to the custom POI area you first choose the “database” and then type and so on. You don’t have to remove anything and can keep adding more databases until it fills up.
You might be using a different macro that does not support multiple databases? Or perhaps I’m misunderstanding the question.
Look for the macro that is “by type” called GPX_by_Cache_type.gsk – I found it by starting in the Groundspeak forums and searching. The run screen of the macro has a dropdown for “database to use”.
12/31/2009 at 10:02 pm #1919081I seem to remember that I had several databases listed when I went to my custom POIs in my nuvi200 but only the ones I loaded via the macro to the tourguide file would include the cache description information.
Now I just load all the queries to one GSAK database and run the macro.
I delete all the custom POIs and reload them with the new macro generated file.Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.

I haven’t found a way to do it on mine either but, like Labrat, I delete my old database when I run a new one. I like to keep it up to date with all the new caches that come out 😀

01/01/2010 at 3:32 pm #1919083If the unit has an SD card slot, you can put one POI file on each SD card and just swap out SD cards as needed. I’ve done it on mine.
01/05/2010 at 4:00 am #1919084i was wanting to keep the one file i have of personal waypoints in the unit, and add geocaching waypoints as needed.
i’ll try looking for other poi loaders -
