I would request that if there will be water caches either as the part of the main 50 or as additional (bonus) caches that there be some kind of advance notice here or on the cache page…particularly if swimwear or a boat will be required to attempt them.
I am one of the persons who will be hiding water caches and the plan right now is to hide them by boat and they will only be accessible by boat. This means that they will all be 5 terrain. We plan on hiding them so there will be no way to get to them by land.
Given the fact that there will be many cachers from out of town, and others (like us) who don’t own any form of water transpo, will there be any organized boating available, groups, rentals, etc? We’d love to attempt some of these, but a boat just isn’t in the budget these days. . . 😥
06/09/2010 at 3:16 am #1928132I’m working on something for a fundraiser for a local west bend group. But, I need to check on a few things first. Hopefully my idea will work out….stay tuned.
06/19/2010 at 1:51 am #1928133I posted my Will Attend on the cache page some months ago, but do I need to do something through the Chamber of Commerce to actually register for this event? Or is there anything else I need to do? I know the first year I signed up through the Chamber, but perhaps things were done differently then.

Nope, you’re set. You just need to sign in at the park when you arrive. 🙂
06/27/2010 at 12:05 am #1928135A lot of people have been asking about which campground the majority of cachers are staying….
So if you’re camping, where are you at?
06/27/2010 at 1:00 pm #1928136My family will be camping at Timber Trail campground. We camped there last year and are returning this year.
06/27/2010 at 1:58 pm #1928137We are staying at Lake Lenwood for our 3rd straight year.
Following the signals from space.
07/04/2010 at 8:31 pm #1928138I too will be at timber trail the entire week leading up to the event. If any one else wants to do some caching during the week let me know would defiantely be up for it.
07/11/2010 at 8:17 pm #1928139I’m a late decider so I am at the state park northern unit, by long lake, looks like a bit of a drive but it was available and cheap

That’s where frmr and I are staying
07/12/2010 at 2:55 pm #1928141I would also suggest Lazy Days, they are very close and may even have a couple of cache bash hides on their property. They were happy to support us and I told him that some people would be coming. You may want to mention you are with the bash and see if he is offering a discount. I can’t remember, it was last summer when I talked with them. Balks, that would definitely be closer for you than from where it sounds like you are staying.

Hi,
I think you’ll have a great time at the event! Just come to Regner Park and we’ll get you signed in with your official booklet and playing card and download the new caches into your GPSr. Most people try to find just the 50 new caches to earn stamps and raffle tickets, but other teams just geocache around the West Bend area like normal.
As far as hooking up with other teams, you may be able to meet other teams or find somebody here in the forums to meet up with. Otherwise, we plan to have a “Buddy Board.” Basically, if you want to partner up with somebody, you can write your name and cell phone number on a post-it and put it on the board. If somebody else also wants a buddy, they can take your note and give you a call. Or if you see a note, you can take it and call. It will be our first year trying this method.
Friday evening is the Meet and Greet at Regner Park and hopefully there will be teams there to socialize with to makes plans for Saturday.
Hope that helped a little? Let me know if there’s anything more specific.
Anne

Thanks fo the info,, this may be a dumb question, but won’t there be several people at GZ at one time if we are all looking for the 50 caches??? Will we be getting a map of the city streets? Sometimes when I do a PQ, the ones on my gps are deleted when I add a new one, if I do one for the caches in the West Bend area before I come, will they stay on my gps when you download the 50?? I have a Garmin Oregon 300. Thanks for your help!!!
