I’m not sure where to post this information:
In today’s Sunday Milwaukee Journal Sentinal (dated August 15, 2010) there is a nice story of this weekend’s event, 2010 Cache Ba$h.
The story is located in the second section, page 2.
08/16/2010 at 12:47 pm #1928176I’d like to thank all that made this event possible! Very well organized, and a lot of FUN!
08/16/2010 at 1:02 pm #1928177I can tell you now that I have read over 1000+ e-mails on my logs, that overwhelmingly we got positive comments from people about the event. Thank you. That makes a years worth of planning and hard work, meetings, coming up with creative hides worth while. I have not gotten any yet and actually look forward to donning my new mosquito suit and getting them myself. I got a lot of positive comments about my series at Serigraph and I had as much fun thinking about it as watching the logs come in. Looking forward to seeing you all next year! 😀
08/16/2010 at 1:16 pm #1928178You do put on a good show!
My personal thanks go out to all involved in the event in particular of course all the WGA folks who helped put it together and also to those who volunteered their time to represent the Association.
I spent the weekend with Tim and Patrick from BlackBelts as well as with my son and daughter. I can tell you that Friday was a bit on the tough side as we cached the northern route (in the rain)…but Sat was a blast caching the central and southern caches (in much better weather). We all had fun and more importantly to the chamber we did drop some money in the community in the way of bug spray (Wallgreens) and food (McDonald’s, Cousin’s and George Webbs).
I look forward to next years event….

08/16/2010 at 1:19 pm #1928179Being another of the cache hiders I agree with L’Dove. The positive comments far out weigh the problems that a small few had with the event. No matter how things are done everyone will not go home happy when over 1000 attend. I spent 3 hours last night reading logs on the event page and the eleven caches that I placed. I want to apologize, but only lightly to anyone who got wet at my hide “Frog Pond”. Many logs on this one started out as the worst cache ever and ended with awesome. Your response in the logs is what makes all of my efforts and all of the other cache hiders and volunteers efforts worth while. Your showing up and finding some caches and having a good time is what makes the event a success.

I really enjoyed the hike loop at Serigraph, AND the fact that our “hotdogs” could stretch their legs with us. I took the time to look up the owner of Serigraph and email him personally to thank him. Great event!!
08/19/2010 at 1:16 pm #1928181We had a blast at our first ca$he bash event. Thank You to your events committee for a job well done. We attended as Friends of the WGA from GONIL, Geocachers of Northeastern Illinois, and as secretary of GONIL, I can say many of our members attend and had a great time.
Thank You again WGA for a Great TIme…
Team MysticAngel-Tom.
P.S. Soon to be back home in Wisconsin permanently.[/b]
08/20/2010 at 12:18 am #1928182Just want to say how very much I enjoyed this year’s Ba$h event… after I had mentioned to Ldove a week earlier on the Eisenbaum I wasn’t really looking forward to attending. 😳
Thanks to all who gave their time to make this a fun event, and thanks to West Bend Chamber for their support.
See ya’ next year!
08/20/2010 at 12:24 am #1928183Thanks everyone, we are very happy that you had a good time and are already starting to think of ideas for next year. Toss out whatever you would like to see. How about a “themed” bash next time? Suggestions? What do you like, not like. Any and all suggestions considered! 😀 We have done all requested ideas before (I think we got them all 😯 ) so, let us know what you want!

I agree that the West Bend Cash Bash is a great event. I did just want to clarify though that the Bash is not a WGA event, so I dont want it to sound like the WGA is taking unearned credit for a great event. Rather, it is run by the West Bend Chamber of Commerce.
The WGA does fully support the event to the extent that we can. This year we provided a booth on Saturday, a Geocaching 101 class on Saturday, and sponsored and staffed the WGA Big Pancake Breakfast on Sunday morning.
I do hope that the WGA continues to be a big part of the West Bend Cash Bash in coming years, and that we do whatever we can to make it a success. However, I dont feel that we should take credit for it’s success when so many more people are responsible for it’s success than the WGA.
Most of the credit has to go to the West Bend Chamber of Commerce and the Committee who helps them organize the Bash. I know it is easy to get confused, since there is a lot of overlap between the committee members and the WGA. But, for the record, the Committee members responsible for Cash Bash are:
LDove
Ecorangers (Earth Angel)
Pharmgirl
JVechinski
KMHiker
MicMac4
MrGreenthumb
SunshineThanks to all of the Cash Bash Committee Members!!!

I’m pretty sure they were from the Oriental Trading Company
09/01/2010 at 5:19 pm #1928187i would like to thank everyone involved with the event. it was our first and will now be tradition with us. i just dont know where there will be room in west bend to hide any more caches for next year lol. we met so many people from all over telling each other about caching stories. we even had fun at the post party dressed in our packer gear yelling back and forth with those bear fans in the balcony lol. this was by far the most fun ive had in a long time. again thank you so much.
