What’s up with this cache … GC1GKZQ
Either someone put in a wrong date or the approvers are very backlogged.
12/11/2008 at 7:26 pm #1898879or someone had a few snags getting it published
12/11/2008 at 8:11 pm #1898880You can change the placement date at any time, even after it’s published. We had a cache for a while that we “placed” in 1947 but people griped that it messed up their “oldest cache found” stats, so we played nice…
On the Left Side of the Road...12/11/2008 at 8:45 pm #1898881Didn’t think I was “griping”…
12/11/2008 at 8:58 pm #1898882Ah, did I say “gripe?” I meant “mentioned.” That’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😆
On the Left Side of the Road...12/11/2008 at 9:35 pm #1898883Or someone submitted a 20 stage multi with a couple other issues, who, after discussing the cache with a reviewer, took quite a bit of time to rework the cache and remove a significant number of the stages.
12/12/2008 at 3:09 am #189888420 stage? yup, there’s one for the ignore list…unless I can log it for each stage found.
12/12/2008 at 3:13 am #1898885It’s also not uncommon for someone to pre-build a cache and not put it out for a long time. there is one partially|obscured cacher who has started a cache and not published it for 6-8 months for one reason or another.

Hmmm… Artisans of Appleton was submitted on 1/22/08 and I still haven’t gotten it finished or approved. Yup, I am guilty of the aforementioned, but as long as no one complains, except Dave who watches “recently published” and occasionally misses one of mine, I’m going to keep doing things the way I do.
I would really like a “Pre-publish” state. One that allows me to enter potential cords, concepts, etc for pre-publishing but one that doesn’t show the submission date as the publish date. I very rarely have a cache posted and published in the same week, much less the same day, given the complexity of my caches.
And sometimes, it’s very intentional

I have had a cache that’s been out for 1 1/2. It’s been/will be part of a series that has had to be re-worked because of troubles with other parts of the series. The funny thing is thou, it’s been found twice by the same team a year into different hidding spots. They saw something that didn’t seem right and decide to investigate. They emaild me to ask if it was mine. So. when I finally get around to getting it published, that team will get to smilies as I put the first log in the second log book and they signed the second log book on the second time around.
12/13/2008 at 6:03 pm #1898889For some reason, we can’t put in a date on our cache pages, so they come out as 1901 (that is so last century!). We have the reviewers put the right dates on them, but if we ever go in to edit, the date is screwy again. Now we just go to the library to use their computers to reset any dates.
