Since the forums have been a little dead lately, I’m going to start something that is sort of off-topic but should get a lot of people participating. If you aren’t interested, simply ignore this entire topic.

On the sixth day of Christmas, geocaching (or the geocaching gods, Signal the Frog, my geo-obsessed spouse, etc.) gave to me:

Six caches a-laying (buried a foot deep in the snow, so there is no chance in hell that I’ll find them)
    (Traditional: Six geese a-laying)
    Five golden (WI) geocoins
    Four sticking burrs
    Tree evil monkeys
    Two double As
And a magnet in a guardrail

Please post your suggestions for today’s verse (sixth day) or simply echo back the one that you like best. Keep suggestions clean and related to geocaching (geocaching in Wisconsin would be even better). Basically we are collaborating to develop a geocaching version of the Twelve Days of Christmas song.

At the end of the day, I will use my completely unscientific virtual applause-o-meter to determine the consensus/majority “winner” for the day.

For reference, the complete song, its history, and many other variants can be found here:

    Wikipedia: Twelve Days of Christmas

[Update… due to lack of participation for the previous days, feel free to make suggestions for any of the days so far.]

Ok.. I purchased a “12 Days of Caching” 4 piece geocoin and this is how they have it noted on there:

    12 Satellites tracking
    11 Puzzle Caches
    10 Gallons of Gas
    9 Bottles of Water
    8 Multi Stages
    7 Hours of Sleep
    6 Ammo Boxes
    5 First to finds
    4 Travel Bugs
    3 GeoCoins
    2 Trekking Poles
    And A New Color GPS

This coin is currently “sold out” but can be viewed at Crake Productions

Thanks for letting me know that these geocoin folks ripped off my idea Anne. 😉

Anyway, some of the lines from the coin seem pretty lame… I’m sure our creative members will come up with something a lot better. Maybe good enough that we can have our own Christmas coin next year…

I picked a tentative winner for day 1… if there are any other day 1 suggestions or comments, go ahead and make them. The traditional day 2 verse is:

    Two turtle doves

I originally thought “Two travel bugs” but that matches something on the geocoin…

Sweet! It is probably the pony I asked for! 😀 I knew Santa wouldn’t let me down. I cried all day yesterday thinking this Santa thing was some cruel hoax or a lie perpetuated by millions of people, but it sounds like he just left my present at the wrong house.

If you can’t find a cache big enough for it (mostly micro and small caches here), you can just drop it off in my backyard… there is plenty of room for it to run around and some green grass for it to eat.

    How about 2 Double As
