Actually, you should be able to:
    (1) Add those caches to your “ignore list”.
    (2) Then modify your Pocket Query by checking the box marked “Are not on my ignore list”.

Now of course you should still go find those caches, so kill a tree for those two caches.

I’ve found Cachmate much easier to use, after spending much time playing with both.

While Cachmate does not have a “built in” search function for cache names and GC numbers … it doesn’t need it … just use your Palms search function … in my case I click on my Palm’s Search (a magnifying glass symbol); type in the word(s) to search for (like cache name or GC), at first it doesn’t find (it only searchs Palm’s own applications), but then I click on “Find More” and a list of the matching cache or caches shows up … it can even search the TEXT of the caches, not just the names.

I’ve been fighting with this problem on my SE Wisconsin PQ’s too. A search of the GC.com software forum indicated it was bad HTML on someone’s web page. I’ve spent A LOT of time trying to see where the problem is until finding the reason today. Lets get this bomb defused!!!!!

    Agreed Steve.

Dave (Uncle_Fun) has been contacted. Assuming he agrees to change the offending cache pages, I will give him the HTML modifications that will stop Plucker from hanging up.

wait a minute,in cachemate, i can find either the name of the cache in alphabetical order, or the GC number in numerical order. all you have to do is scroll to the one you want. i usually have around 400 in there at a time and it takes no time at all to find the one i want.

    Jeremy,

Maybe we should all know what *not* to do on our pages from now on? Unless it’s such an odd thing that it’s not likely to occur again…?

Or, just email me what the problem is..

    Thanks!!

Agreed. But if you even want to avoid scrolling enter the first letter of the cache name or waypoint (i.e. write it or hit the letter if you’ve got a keyboard). This will jump you down to the first cache that starts with this letter. Keep entering letters to get even closer. (It helps if you remove the GC from the waypoint code.)

    I *heart* this feature.

Uncle_Fun has removed the offending HTML code from the two cache pages. He wasn’t really happy about doing it, and he actually removed more stuff than he needed to, but it everything should be back to normal in Pluckerland. I just got a Pocket Query and did my normal Plucker run of the 500 caches nearest to Mke and it did not freeze.

As far as what he had wrong… basically there were multiple HTML table tags left open and some tag properties were started with a ” (quote) but were not closed with one. This is not something you are going to do accidentally if you are writing your own HTML. I think the “The Selector” tool he used to add some icons to his cache pages either gave him bad HTML, or something bad happened when he pasted the code into the existing cache description.

    Thanks for fixing this Dave!
