› Forums › Geocaching in Wisconsin › Help › Palm Pilot – Memory Card Question
Ok, if you have a Memory Card in your Palm Pilot with stuff on it (map segments and some non-geo related large files) … and you want to upgrade to a bigger/faster Memory Card … will this work????:
(a) take the old card (with the data) out of the palm and insert the card into my laptops memory card slot.
(b) copy all the files and directory structure from the card to a spot on the laptop.
(c) insert the new card (blank) into the laptop and copy the files and directories back on to the card
(d) insert the new card (copied) into the Palm.
Will this work? … will the Palm be “happy” with the copied data … next time I sync the Palm will the sync process “flip out” at this “secret change” that I made?
Feel free to point out a better method … but this just seems like it would be quick and simple … but only if it works 🙂
I would think it would work but another option would be to synch the card out to your computer, put the new card in the palm and synch it back.
An update …
I crossed my fingers and did what I had outlined.
It worked fine!
To make sure, I did a sync after I was done, the sync process did not seem to notice the switch-a-roo.
