    Has anyone had this problem.

I have a docking station for my palm in Com2. The GPSr cable in Com1. I cannot send waypoints to the GPSr it stated that it cannot initialize the com port. So what we have to do is disable the comport. Restart the computer with the GPSr hooked up and when it is restarted we then have to enable the com port. This may work it may not we haven’t figured all that out yet but it is way too much putzing around to get the waypoints in. Does anyone know of a solution to this?

You’ve probably already tried this, but…

What I would do is re-configure the hot-sync program for your Palm.

Right click the “hot-sync” icon in your system tray, then click “Setup” Under the general tab, change to “Available Only When The Palm Desktop Is Running.”

Be sure that the Palm Desktop is NOT running, then try downloading waypionts. When you are ready to hot-sync, simply call up the Palm Desktop then press the button.

I’m guessing that the hot-sync program is holding on to your serial port and not letting it go. This should help.

That’s what I was just going to suggest … those USB/Serial adapters work great. I have 2 serial GPSrs plugged in (one in the serial port and one with an adapter), plus a USB camera, plus two Palms (one usb, one special cable that adapts to usb) … all work fine.
