I have a cache on my watch list that is located in a park that is clearly labeled as closed for construction.
First off, I wanted to express my surprise at how many cachers would still seek this cache. If the park is labeled closed, I would think that entering the park would be considered trespassing…. Not to mention how *happy* I am sure this makes the local parks folks as we try to work with them to get caching in local parks.
So this one has been bugging me for a looooong time. Since mid-September the construction sign is listed in the logs. I drove past the park again today and it is still definitely under construction and labeled closed.
So I finally put in a “needs archived” log. Does that mean someone will re-assess it and possibly archive it temporarily until the construction is finished? I’m curious now as to what the next step in the process is since I posted that log. (Or is there even a next step in the process?)

I see that the cache has now been archived by admin GrouseTales. To answer your question about the process, when someone posts a request to archive a cache, it sends a message to geocaching.com. They, in turn, send an email notification to the admin or admins responsible for that territory. In this case, that email went to GrouseTales, kbraband, and jvechinski since we are the admins who act on behalf of the WGA. GrouseTales (the lead admin for the WGA) reviewed the cache and the archive request and deciced to archive this cache for now.

01/29/2004 at 2:19 am #1739689I remember discussing this awhile back at the meeting in Fitchburg. Caemig had gotten special permission to place this cache in the area for a school project. No doubt GrouseTales will get to the bottom of it though
