Zumette and I placed a few more caches Satuday at Lake Wissota, so now there are 32 permanent caches in Lake Wissota State Park. Most of the caches in the park are easier than average, and the terrain at Lake Wissota is generally flater than the other state parks, yet still very scenic.
Here is the park map with the geocaches shown: http://www.geocaching.com/map/default.aspx?lat=44.97025&lng=-91.30595
So make plans now for a great caching day at Lake Wissota on September 19th.

08/26/2009 at 5:44 pm #1913130Nice to see that the park is happy with this arrangement, and I think this is the way to go forward rather than temps. That’s more than enough for 95% of attendees, and for the remainder there are more outside the park.

No more temps at WGA events?

No, there will be about 30 temps as well.

There are some things better to do as a temp, things that are cool, yet would not stand the test of time.
We do this for fun, so the ultimate answer is for fun……Some people get their fun from stirring the pot. Why?

Same reason as puzzle caches. Some people like them. no?(they’re screwed in the head, and geocache, so there ya go.)
08/29/2009 at 1:40 am #1913136About temps . . . Never having been to an event with temps, just wondering how they work. Are cachers given only the coords or are there ratings and size descriptions and hints and cache pages to read for each one? Are there logs to sign or a sheet to stamp?
And when the call goes out before each event for volunteers to help hide the temps, is this just for the physical hiding, like place this cache here and this cache there, or are those volunteers supposed to come up with some cache ideas, too? Any enlightenment would be welcome.

The temp hiding crew will be out in force Sunday, and yes, we encourage a wide variety of ideas, but we also have temps that are WGA property to use. So both occur.
Each temp has a stamp in it, and you stamp your booklet when you find the cache. The booklet has the coords, the hint, etc as well as a map.
