Ken, are you still of the feeling that the official position is no position in the Wi State Forests? In other words have you had any further feedback from the rangers you had emailed? Jeff – Hotdogs Off Trail

Jeff – Hotdogs Off TrailI haven’t had further contact with the DNR about geocaching, so yes, that’s the latest I’ve heard.

Will I, and those I invite to the hunt, be seen as elitists? Am I hurting the sport by not being inclusive, even though I may put the future of the hunt itself at risk? Am I truly an insipid bozo for making caches with contents that don’t just come out of my kitchen junk drawer? What do you guys think?[/B]
You know I struggled with this too and I made an untraditional move. I really wanted to place a cache with value but didn’t want people to be greedy. I decided to place 7 normal caches in my area and if someone found all 7 of them then they would get the location of the last cache. I think to post it I will post a dummy location so that they can still log the cache without me having to give away the actual location. I explain it better in my profile maybe. Anyway that might be better than archiving it since then noone could claim a find on it. Your not then being exclusive since all it takes is respect for the other caches to get to the last one.

Two thoughts on your post above:
1) You might make the posted co-ordinates on the ‘dummy cache’ be the parking area of the actual cache.2) Actually, you can still log finds on an archived cache. It works…
Happy Caching!
