Just a note to all who have placed caches in the Peshtigo River State Forest. The WDNR will be removing your caches soon if you don’t get the approval form filed with them. Here is the link http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/parks/other/pdfs/form2500-118.pdf
We received a email recently that our cache was removed from Gov Thompson State Park and we could pick it up at the office or fill out the form, get it approved, then replace the cache. We have done the latter, we are waiting for the placement to be approved then will re hide the cache.
The warning is for other cache owners in the Peshtigo river state forest (All the land previously owned by Wisconsin Public Service in Marinette County around Cauldron Falls, High Falls, and Johnson Falls) the ranger that we talked to today is new to Geocaching (thanks to my cache that he had to go and find to remove) He said he know of 7 or so more in the PRSF that he is going to remove when he has time. He did say he enjoys geocaching and it is addicting but it is his job to remove them if they are not approved by the forest manager, Her office is at Gov. Thompson State Park. So file your forms people YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
There are certain requirements for the caches also, they must be in Clear or transparent containers so Ammo Boxes are Not Acceptable unless you cut out one side and glue a piece of lexan to it so it can be looked into with out opening it.

According to the DNR policy, the cache needs to be “clearly labled”, not a “clear container”. A translucent container is not a requirement.
The Warden that I talked to said that the container had to be see thru, just going by what I was told
