I just want to change the page so I don’t have to read old pet peeves when I look at this page.

The moronic city plow driver that gets his jollies out of plowing a pile of snow four feet high and five feet wide right in front of my mail box. I had to dig it out twice after our last snowfall.

The new condo laws on financing, that will make getting out of here even harder!

Well I was all ready to start a pet peeve here on “owners who can’t/don’t keep dogs in their yards” (because I blame the owner, not the dog). The scenario is, while out running I had a black lab come tearing toward me with the owner making a feeble attempt to call it back. Seeing that the dog had the tongue out and tail up, I decided he didn’t mean any harm (but I kept a finger on the pepper spray just in case). So, as the dog proceeded to run circles around me for about 100 feet of my run, the owner yells out, “Careful that he doesn’t trip you!”

    😯

I’m ready to turn around and inquire not-so-politely about why it was MY problem to control HIS dog, when I thought to myself, “What would Sandlanders do?” (hereinafter known as, WWSD?)

So instead, I kept going, the dog turned back, and I enjoyed the other 94,940 feet of my run in the bright sunshine and 34 degrees. That makes the glass not just half full, but 99.9% full according to my calculations. πŸ˜€

First of all, you would never–and I mean NEVER–catch me out running. 😯 πŸ˜‰ But as for the dogs on your route, just outrun them. You did well, Grasshopper…

Now, as for Mr. Sandlanders on his bicycle… He has quite a few dog stories from his thousands of miles on the area roads. But those tales are his to tell, and there are quite a few dog lovers around these forums… πŸ˜‰

Well being that I do cache with 3 labs and that 99.99999999% of the time I’m in the woods, they are with me. I don’t leash my dogs but 2 wear shock collers. 90% of the time when I’m out, I NEVER run into anyone else. But when I do, I try to herd them in and wait for the people to pass.
With most labs, the worst that can happen is they will try to lick you to death. My boys are pretty large labs and the female is small but sometimes she sounds like she gonna rip your head off and if your out it the woods and all of a sudden you have 3 dogs running up to ya can be pretty scary I’m sure. All in all, I do try to aviod others. If I see a car at a trail head I was going to walk, I’ll go find the next trail.

Wow! We saw a rarity last fall–that 0.00000001% of the time you were in the woods without the dogs.

Yep. Or sit on your receiver so you think you’ve left it somewhere. πŸ˜‰

But you are very mindful of your dogs when they’re around others. Wish all dog owners were as considerate and responsible.

Yes, I blame the owner, not the dogs. It is not the dog’s fault that it runs between my bike tires on a public roadway…knocks me down on a trail that requires a 6′ leash that the dog isn’t wearing…lays a big load in the middle of a park that doesn’t allow dogs that I step in…bites me after being assured by the owner that “he doesn’t bite.”…etc…

    There I go griping again…

Forgot one, dog owners taking their dog for a walk on a nicely groomed cross country ski trial that had a big sign at the start that says no pets.

Not me. You must have me confused with someone else. In fact I just got back from an awesome flight, and winter flying is always the best because the air is better. Plus it’s easier to see that nice black runway contrasted against the white snow. So it’s a great day to be alive. No compaints.

Cat’s…specifically cats puking… while there is some measure of humor in watching them cough up a hairball you’d think they’d be a little smarter about it. Let me digress to explain…

A week or two ago on thursday garbage night the cat’s litter box got cleaned as it always does. later that night the cat is getting pretty friendly, doing the figure 8 around the legs..aw how cute..ok you can have a treat…well, it eats the treat and goes away.

Friday morning, getting ready to leave he’s doing the figure 8 thing again and talking smack left and right (as cat’s can do you know)… gotta go. I get home early, he immediately starts talking smack again.. check his food/water he’s good to go. Friday night he’s just standing outside the door by his “stuff” cat barking at anyone who gets near.

Saturday morning, I get up can hear him from the bedroom just howling now, send one of the offspring down to check, yup out of food again. He continues to just howl now, we are starting to wonder if its time for a vet visit. Any time someone goes downstairs he chases after them and howls by the door.

Finally my wife comes down and checks the food again, and realizes that no one ever put any litter in his potty, just a liner. It is tucked under a shelf for privacy( πŸ˜› ) and was most likely forgotten by our garbage trainee’s. While there was a small deposit I’m sure he was holding in a lot more hence the howling. Imagine 2 days without seeing a bathroom?

On the friday above when i got home, i was greeted to the sounds of the cat puking in the living room. Then after cleaning that, he puked in the entryway. Fast forward to last night, somehow right in front of us with out a sound puked up what looked like half his body weight (no where near but it was surprisingly big).

So if a cat is smart enough to try and tell us he doesn’t have a place to crap you’d think he’d be smart enough to puke in the same spot. So much for domestication!

*note* while I don’t like cleaning up cat puke, this note is all in fun and no cats were harmed in the making of this note and the cat is its usual fun sometimes annoying self today.

While skiing at LaGrange yesterday, Mate encountered a couple walking on the ski trail (always a no-no). When she yelled,”Excuse me!”, they gave her a bad look and refused to move over. This issue has been mentioned in previous posts, and it really is ANNOYING!
