Let’s get this party started !!

Kind of like SpongeBob Squarepants, there are only two things I know, Geocaching and breathing.
For those who know me, thank you for your past support. You must like me enough to have elected, re-elected and re-re-elected me as I have been on the WGA BOD since 2010 and have had a blast doing it. I look forward again to your support.
For those who do not know me (and for those who may have forgotten), a little background on the RAT.

I found out about geocaching in March 2006 as I was involved setting up an adventure race with another group. One of my partners mentioned this thing GE-O-Cashing. A little research as to how this might work in and adventure race, a quick sign-up on GC.com and a couple of local caches and I was hooked. The event that we set up for the race was more of a letterbox than a cache but all was good. I pretty much cached on my own, in my own semi-productive way watching the numbers on the GPS go up or down as I moved around. I didn’t learn about the “go to” functionality until about a year later. I noticed one May day in 2007, that the WGA (whatever that was) was holding an event at Hartman Creek State Park. Hey, that’s not that far away from home! I should go. There I met a few cachers whom are still friends today. I learned much about my GPS and more about what caching was about.

As I got into the WGA for a while, I began thinking how I could help this organization grow, bring caching excitement to others, and to help make this hobby something people would talk about. As a relatively new name, my first run at the BOD fell short but I continued to be involved and gave it another try. Another try in 2010 turned out differently.

Just reviewing what I wrote in 2010, the sentiment is still accurate:

I tend to cache solo, using the quiet time to gather my thoughts and to meditate, keeping my mind at peace. Enjoying the outdoors has always been a pleasure that I look forward to and in the past year, the ways that has been accomplished have included kayaking, biking, hiking, crawling, creeping, bushwacking, wading, puzzling and searching. Hard to say if there was any time when I did not enjoy being out there trying to find what others have hidden.
While the solo efforts have been many, I have also enjoyed the times when I have joined efforts with others. Getting together with others gives you opportunities to speak on topics that you may not get the chance to talk about under other circumstances. Sometimes the conversations are just the casual things but sometimes can get quite deep in thought. Anyone who thinks that geocachers are just a bunch of tech-geeks with not much to say really need to get out there. Many of the geocachers I have crossed paths with are very well versed and not afraid to converse.
Everyone has a story to tell, all they need is an audience.

Many who work with me know that I do not take things lightly. If someone asks a question, they deserve an answer. I am not one to jump to a decision, I am a fact gatherer. I want as much information as possible to consider before formulating my final opinion or decision. This doesn’t mean I am slow to act, I want to be sure that everything is on the table.

During my years on the board of directors, I have held the high office and the not quite so high office at least once. While each officer has a job to do, nobody on the board can do the job alone so each director is necessary to lend a hand. Even the smallest gathering can be difficult to pull together alone, but with the help of others, these events turn out great.

Well, after six years on the WGA BOD, the decision to run was a difficult choice to make. Do I still have something to give to WGA, I think I do. A seat on the WGA board is sort of like a Senate Seat, as long as you are willing to run, you stay until voted out or you breathe your last. While I pray I don’t breathe my last any time soon, If the membership feels I have something more to give, I thank you for the support, if they feel some new blood would benefit the group, I fully support that too.

I thank you for the nomination. I look forward to your questions.

Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
