Any comment on bringing a dog along?
I’m guessing since it’s a State Park, dogs are allowed but with many limitations due to the picnic area rules.
Just looking for feedback to help me weigh the pros/cons.

Hotdogs Off Trail was at the last campout and I believe he was allowed free run of the park.
04/02/2009 at 10:15 pm #1904852Pets are permitted in the family and group campgrounds, trails, roads, and outlying areas. Two areas in the park are designated as pet picnic areas – one is in the marina, which provides water access for your pet. The other is near the pavilion. Basic pet rules include:
* Pets (except disability service animals) are not allowed in buildings, mowed picnic areas, beach, playgrounds, observation tower, or snow-covered cross-country ski trails.
* Pets must be on a leash (no longer than 8 feet), under control, and attended at all times.
* Pet owners are responsible for removal and proper disposal of pet waste.
* Pets are not allowed to interfere in any manner with the enjoyment of the park by others.
For a complete list of pet rules, see state park and forest pet rules here…
04/03/2009 at 1:46 am #1904853My geodog has attended several of the WGA campouts and she enjoys em. I dont think Jesse is gonna make the May campout though, since we are gonna have to motel it this time around.

What? Do you mean we will not have to tell you to settle down or go to bed and quit telling stories until 2am or when you pass out from exhaustion telling them sitting next to the camp fire? I don’t think I want to come now. Thanks a lot. You just ruined the event for me. Just kidding. If you pay your hotel by the hour, then you could check in after your story telling is done:)

Are you saying it was me running amuck at the last campout, or my dog? Our dog(s) are usually a part of all our geocaching activities, unless specifically forbidden.
Bonnie just got a new Garmin Astro 220, which has a GPS receiver and transmitter on the collar for Jag (our dog, not me). It relays direction, distance, and makes a trail of his runs. Pretty cool system for up to 10 dogs to be tracked.

I hope you realized I was joking, and to answer your question I thought your dog was very well behaved.
04/21/2009 at 2:28 am #1904857I knew you were joking, so just had some fun with it, and tried to add a little information. And Jag thanks you for the complement.
05/07/2009 at 2:22 am #1904858The question had come up about pets on the trails. here is the official word on that:
Dogs:
I have some updated information for you regarding dogs and other pets on trails within High Cliff State Park. We have no ‘designated’ Nature Trails within High Cliff State Park. Therefore you are welcome to take you dog on any of the trails. Please remember to keep your dog on a leash no more than 8-feet in length.
-end-Assuming the other comments about the picnic areas may still hold true.
Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
