I can’t believe that will stand up if challenged in court. Once the property is left on public domain I can’t believe it is anything more than garbage….per say.

There is an 18 page thread on it (50 posts per page) on the Groundspeak forums. He’s due in court tomorrow. Other than that, NOTHING useful was said there other than he may be possibly be responsible for one of the longest and most persistant cache theft streaks in history, going back as long as seven years and involving possibly thousands of caches. There is no proof of that, but the torches are lit and pitchforks at the ready.

As much as I would like to see this guy punished, I just can’t see how it will hold up. Basically, to anyone who is not a cacher he did a great thing by picking up “litter”. I just can’t see what they are going to get him on….it sucks. You never know though…there is that whole Simpson trial thing!

Well it doesn’t say if he was actually an Air Force member or a civilian working for the Air Force. If it’s the former, he should be fearing his commanding officer and not the courts. If it’s the latter, he should be fearing his fellow comrades. What a dope, but of course nobody said most criminals were the best / brightest either.

If you ask him, I’m sure he’ll tell you he was innocent and did absolutely nothing wrong.

I would hope a good DA would argue the point that this was not litter or public property. In in fact does have an owner on the geocaching.com website. To me this is no different than “forgetting” something in the park and having someone swipe your property.

Light the torches and sharpen the pitchforks. 😯 😯 😯
