ever hear of such a thing? wasted my time searching for nothing.
09/05/2010 at 1:43 pm #1935493Question is:
Is the CO a newbie and didn’t know any better?
09/05/2010 at 1:51 pm #1935494Maybe the CO forgot to click off the box that the cache was ready for submission. I’m always afraid that will happen to me. Wish the default was the other way around there.
09/05/2010 at 2:44 pm #1935495I’ve had this happen to me 3 times and they were all newbies who thought they needed approval before actually setting the container. This will get even more confusing as some of the new county and municipality guidelines require their approval before you set out the container.

I agree – I’ve never had a cache ready to go on the first attempt at laying out the information.
09/05/2010 at 3:34 pm #1935497I always have the container hidden before submission of the paperwork. If it gets rejected then I go back and retrieve my container. No big thing. Also, co is not a newbie.
09/05/2010 at 3:49 pm #1935498Interesting comments on “approval” / “denial”. I’ve had very good luck (except for the local DNR) getting approval from a variety of sources before building / placing any caches. I try communicate with the “land owner” first to ensure it’s going to fly before doing anything.
Opencaching.us provides a unique set of options for publishing which are a bit different than geocaching.com. They allow you to schedule the publication which I found interesting. This would be really handy for series of caches or anything that is time sensitive (i.e. wanting it to release on a holiday, birthday, etc.)

to let the reviewer know anything special about the cache or when it should be published?Disclaimer : Always answering to a higher power.
09/06/2010 at 3:19 am #1935500I don’t think its right but I have had a cache accidentally go for review before I was ready. I got over zealous and clicked too many squares and it went in.
I was able to avert them though so it was good.

I agree that the default should be the other way around, as I think this is often an issue.
As a FTF junkie, I can say I have run across the issue of people who should know better submitting a cache for an approval, and then placing the container after it is approved a few times. Luckily it is rare that folks are that dumb, thank goodness.

That’s a nice feature, but only in place becaause they don’t have reviewrs. I could place a cache in the middle lane of I94 and it would be approved. 😀
