I might have just b0rked my Dell Axim X30. I was trying to update .NET Framework to 2.0 when things sort of tanked. Having not backed up, I went back in and (this is ripe) deleted both the .NET 2.0 and the main .NET framework. Now I can’t Sync or do much of anything.
Did I just turn this thing into a brick or will a hard reset and wipe fix everything?
I would think a hard reset would get you up and running again. I can’t imagine you would have destroyed the original image. I believe that is burned to a ROM.
Yeah. That being said, at work they always hand me all of the software upgrades because I have a unique ability to break stuff. 😆
yes, you should be able to do a Hard Reset, and all should be good.
I run a HP RX3715 Mobile Media Companion PocketPC Runing PPC2003 Pro.
Here is the hard reset info for your unit.
If you need any help, let me know
Justin
The Dell Axim X30 can be hard reset by performing the following procedure:
With the X30 turned on, press and hold the power button at the top of the unit. While holding the down power button, use the stylus tip to press the “Reset” button mentioned above. Release both buttons. The unit will power back on and display a menu to confirm the hard reset request. To continue to hard reset the Axim, press the “Contacts” button – to cancel the reset, press the “E-Mail” button. If you select the “Contacts” button, The Axim will be hard reset, just as it was when it left the factory.
If the hard reset doesn’t work, you should be able to use a memory card to install both of the frameworks. My PPC won’t sync with Vista, so the memory card has been the only way to get info from the computer to the PPC.
Thanks for the help guys. I should have let you know I did the hard reset just after my 2nd post and all is well. I’m just new enough to Pocket PC’s that I’m still not that comfy with it.
