Does any one know of a site where I can pull up a map or satellite image, click on a point, and get coordinates for that point? I browsed a little but haven’t found anything.
Google Maps has oodles of gadgets for playing:
GO TO > http://maps.google.com/
CLICK ON “MY MAPS” upper left
CLICK ON “BROWSE THE DIRECTORY”
CLICK ON “POSITION FINDER” on the far upper right, and Add it,
[also notice all the other toys to play with; for example, the “Elevation Contours” app will give you elevation as well]
then click on “Back to Google Maps” upper left
(note that you can change the coordinate display format)
This will now show up as an item under “My Maps” > “created by others”

hopefully these instructions all work, and you find what you are looking for
Awesome information. I didn’t know Google maps would do all that. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you HP2. That’s exactly what I was looking for and so much more.
