I just thought that I would leave a note here to tell everyone about the first of the Team Rusch Cache Games. This one is called Three Card Poker The game is only open to 17 people so it’s on a first find, first play basis. I hope that by mentioning this it levels the playing field a bit since those who would not normally find this cache in their search will now know about it. Best of luck to all of those who choose to play.

Looking forward to playing this new type of cache. Can’t wait to get out and get started on this one.

I don’t quite understand it yet but I’ll give it a go. Looks like fun! Will all the caches be in the Northern Kettle Moraine area?

Now that is pretty neat Too bad it is way up past Fon Du Lac. Will the other caches be in that general area, or will they be scattered over a large portion of the state?

I plan on playing, although I have no clue if I’ll hit enough caches over the course of the game

Glad to see that you guys plan on playing. To answer most of your questions the rest of the caches will be south of the first one and North of Milwuakee. Any other questions please let me know.

South of the first one and north of Milwaukee. Hmmm… sounds like my ‘hood! Anyone want to pay me to pick up cards for them? Just kidding.

This looks like it will be interesting. One question though… what if all 17 players find all 5 “card caches”. By my math, that’s 5*17=85. (I figured the 17 player limit was because giving each player 3 cards would almost use up the deck (51 cards).)

If all the virtual cards in the virtual deck are gone, are you just out of luck? Or will you cycle through the virtual deck again?

In any case, this looks like a fun extension to geocaching… a lot like a motorcycle poker run, where you get one card at each stop, best hand wins.

I guess that my description could have used a little work. The 17 players are based on the 3 cards for each or 51 cards. This leaves one card left over. When you do your fourth or fifth cache you have to turn in one card to receive the next one. Since the last two caches are not played at the same time this will work with only one deck. Confused yet? Let me give you an example. There is one card left over, say it is the Ace of Spades. The Searchers decide they want to better their hand and find the fourth cache. They would then turn in one of their cards to recieve the Ace. Say they turned in a Two of Hearts. Now that card is left so the next person who finds the fourth cache would turn in one of theirs and get the Two. I hope this clears it up a bit. Thanks for pointing out areas that need a little explaination.

One more area that I thought I would clear up. If you click on the Order of winning hands link on the Three Card Poker page you will see a popup window showing the order of scoring the winning hand. The cards next to each are not the actual winning hands but examples of what each hand is. Any flush would beat any pair and so on.

What a day! Only 12 spots left. Sounds like a good pot for the winning hand.
