Anyone having any problems loading? I’ve been trying since Sunday. I get the web site saying there are problems. Are we the only ones?
10/15/2010 at 3:20 am #1937431I had problems but I didn’t get a message it was on their end, I just thought it was something I was doing wrong.
10/15/2010 at 3:51 am #1937432Same problem here.
10/15/2010 at 5:54 pm #1937433Good! It’s not me this time.
01/09/2011 at 8:56 pm #1937434I am still unable to post pictures with my logs. After I log a cache, I click underneath my log on Upload an image for this log. I browse the file, finding the photo in one of two places on my computer. I click on the photo, then give it a title on the File caption line. Then I click the upload button. It thinks about it for two or three minutes, and then I get an error message with the GC logo, Waymarking logo, and Wherigo logo.
I have been able to view these photos on my computer, e-mail them to myself and others, and load them onto those digital keychain things. What am I doing wrong that they aren’t uploading to my logs?
01/09/2011 at 10:48 pm #1937435Why, oh why did GC.com take their very helpful Website forum and stick it into that less than useless “feedback” thing? There was usually an easily found thread on whatever the problem might be with fixes or at least an acknowledgement that the problem exists. Now, it’s impossible to know what’s going on…

I went to the Groundspeak forums and maybe it is just me but they are not that easy to use. Yes, they have a nice listing of topics, but I remember back when I first started geocaching I went there for help and there was a topic section devoted entirely to problems with technology. I did manage to find one thread, perhaps there are others, regarding the topic and it seems people are frustrated with this. They are being told by customer service to resize the pictures. I know how to do this when I am viewing them on the screen but not in the upload process. Several comments have been made on how this is not a feasible option. I guess I will check back to that thread once in a while, maybe try uploading a photo now and then. But given the comments so far, it doesn’t look promising.
01/11/2011 at 3:01 am #1937437I use a Mac, and I have my photos in iPhoto. When I go to export one or more to a folder on my desktop or to Pictures, I am given the option of resizing them (height or width). Then they are exported in a smaller size. When I go to upload them to a cache log or anywhere, they are ready to go, and I have had no problems adding photos to my cache logs, even when everybody else started having these problems. I don’t know what a PC has that is similar to what I have available to me on my Mac.
01/11/2011 at 1:06 pm #1937438You can re-size pictures using “Paint”, but it is a one-at-a-time, and somewhat of a manual process.
A reasonable free software that I have on all of my computers to do some simple image manipulation is called Irfanview
Lots of on-line help in using it. It allows you to re-size and change type if you wish.
01/11/2011 at 11:57 pm #1937439Picasa is another free photo editing software. But I use Photofiltre, which is also free. You can Bing both softwares for the links.
