I recently wanted to preload some P/R and rest area hides in my Nuvi so if I’m ever traveling around an area (for purposes other than caching) and I’m itching for a quick cache fix, I don’t have to guess if there is a cache there…assuming it hasn’t been muggled!

Here’s the list in case anyone is interested.

Also, here is a list of the P/R in the state I found that do NOT have a cache. (Just like every park should have a cache, so should every P/R!) That doesn’t necessarily be able to place one here, but if you feel like checking it out, travelers like me can always use another P/G P/R!

Also, does anyone know…is there a rule about not being able to place caches at state rest areas? Couldn’t find anything specific about it and the only ones out there seem to date back to 2005 or earlier.

All that work……ya they (rest areas) are pretty much off limits if they belong to the DOT.

…edited to correct DOT (not DNR).

    From the website:

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation, for safety and operational reasons,
discourages citizens from using any WisDOT site for geocaching purposes. Any
“cache” found by site staff will be disposed of promptly

This includes Park & Ride lots owned by the DOT.

DOT not DNR. And not ALL Rest areas are DOT. Some are county, city, town owned.

All Rest Areas are owned by the DOT, not all waysides are…..

Is the list set to “public”? I don’t have permissions according to the gc website.

Yes, it was public, but I didn’t have the “I want to share this list with others.” clicked.

Not that much work. I still wanted the list of the active sites so I went through them all. I just did a quick copy and paste for the rest. No big.

That’s the answer I thought about the Rest Areas. Guess I didn’t realize (but it makes sense) about the P/Rs.

I would not recommend using the
      40-05 – Milwaukee Train Station
due to security concerns it would cause.

I’m not sure where you got your info, but all three of the Waukesha County P & R are occupied.

67-70 Nashotah – there is a puzzle cache there
67-55 Government Hill – there is another cache within 528′ making it unavailable
      67-75 – I have a cache there

I didn’t say they would be for sure available to place a cache at them all. I was only listing the P/Rs that DIDNT have a cache. There are some spots like the train stations and private property spots that shouldn’t have one. Then there are the ones where train lines or other caches are too close. I just thought also including the places where there aren’t ones would be a good list to spark conversation and get people thinking about them.

As for 67-75… well…uhh…missed that one in my search. 😳 Dang human tendencies for error. It’s now on the Has One list.

40-65 Timmerman Field is not usable, as there is no clear cut answer on who owns the land so permission is an issue and concerns to the proximity to the airport

Also some of your counties are are incorrect. Meno. Falls and Gerkes Corners are Waukesha not Walworth

      True. I misspoke.
