I recieved an email from groundspeak this week asking to fill out a survey for them. One of the questions was “Would you be willing to pay $34.99 for a yearly premium membership?”. Looks to me like they are thinking or are going to have a price increase in the future.
10/19/2011 at 11:05 am #1954058I believe when I signed up the contract said that I’d pay the same fee every year thereafter….or am I wrong?

We filled out the survey last night and said “No” even though we’d probably pay it, although not happily.
10/19/2011 at 12:15 pm #1954060That’s weird – I completed the survery under our family account (i.e. non-premium) and they asked if I’d be willing to pay $19.99 / year for a premium membership.

Now that’s weird, since I was thinking ours said “$36.99.” Our current memebership is premium.
10/19/2011 at 12:37 pm #1954062I guess I’m not important enough. I haven’t gotten a survey. 😉

Dont feel bad…neither did I and this is at least the 3rd one I’ve heard about since I created my account. No, I’m not bitter 😛
10/19/2011 at 2:52 pm #1954064I think mine asked about $36.99.

Yep. That was for $30, if you did auto renew.
For as long as grass shall grow and the rivers flow…And I think whether or not you receive a survey depends on your email preferences, or at least that’s what I remember from last time. We opted for don’t send us “stuff”, so I guess it doesn’t. No survey here.
10/19/2011 at 5:03 pm #1954066On our family (non-premium) account I was asked if I’d pay $19.99 for a premium membership.
On my personal (premium) account I was asked if I’d pay $36.99 for a premium membership.
Apparently the survery knows if you’re premium or not based on the link they send you.
10/20/2011 at 12:46 am #1954067I’ll be in the minority, but I’d pay double that and still be content. That membership is supporting an activity that brings me great pleasure in life. And since I don’t see the entire staff of Groundspeak vacationing on the Riviera, I’ll assume they are putting it toward at least partially serving me. I would expect more service or content for my dollar.

Well yeah, we would probably pay it, but no need to tell THEM that. lol
Bad negotiating skills there. 😀10/21/2011 at 9:53 pm #1954069This is just typical of marketing done on surveys. Like any company, they want to charge the “correct” price for their product. What is “correct”?, you might ask. The correct price is where Sales x Profit per item is the maximized. My guess is that the price isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
10/21/2011 at 11:02 pm #1954070We didn’t get that survey, either, but I’m guessing it’s what Deejay said. Still, we’re with Honeybunnies here…people pay way more than that for golf clubs, gym memberships and the like, so we see this one as a bargain.
10/22/2011 at 2:24 am #1954071I’ll toss out this idea. How about an entry level membership for $5 / year instead of the free membership?
