      hey Marc,

Sorry to here about the Lyme’s. That is a nasty looking rash. I guess ya cant be too careful. I am sure you will be back to 100% within a few weeks, just stay on the antibiotics!!!

Good luck. If ya need anybody to bring over any hot soup or anything like that, let me know. But if ya need a back massage, I believe THD has signed up for that particular duty. And, in keeping with the Team Spirit, and all of us helping each other out, if your disease progresses to the point that ya need a real nice foot massage, you know ya can count on Team Honeybunnies for that.

IMO, that rash is not the Erythema migrans rash characteristic of Lyme disease. It is difficult to tell from that picture, but it appears that the worst of the redness is in the epidermal layer of the skin. This would be more suggestive of a simple cellulitis (skin infection which could be caused by ANY bite or break in the skin) rather than Lyme (which tends to have more of the redness slightly deeper in the dermal of the skin. The history of a wood (rather than deer) tick bite makes this more likely also.

Either way, that rash needed antibiotics. I would probably have used something that covered Lyme just to be safe (as you may have missed another smaller Lyme tick).

Glad you got the meds for that nasty one. It seems to be nothing to find a mess of ticks after a cache this spring. Yesterday, I found three wood ticks and two deer ticks after doing a couple. Everyone in our family has had Lymes and been treated successfully except me. Our younger son had the freakiest rash and he was just a toddler at the time. We never did find a tick or bite site, but are glad we got him right in. They didn’t want us to bring him in, kept trying to tell me it was chicken pox. Fortunately our physician overheard the conversation, asked who’d called, and told them to get us right in. I believe the exact statement was, “If they say it’s ticks, it’s ticks! They’re out crawling in the woods all the time!”
