Back in July of 2009, I had received permission to place a cache in a new park that has a historical background with the stipulation that I wait until completion. Twice a year for the past three years I’ve checked only to be told to check back as work was ongoing and dragging on. Last week I found out that rennovation of a building is holding up publication again until at least August. Do I hold the record for longest wait on a publication? It will be going on four years!

The buck stops here. . .and gets entered into Where's George.

04/20/2013 at 12:45 pm #1969763Since nobody else is chiming in on this one, I’m claiming the record…and am not waiting for the trophy…will make my own cuz I lost all my patience a year or two ago

04/20/2013 at 2:19 pm #1969764So when it does finally get published, does the FTF get to claim lonely cache game points for a FTF on a 4-year old cache?
All opinions, comments, and useless drivel I post are mine alone and do not reflect the opinions of the WGA BOD.

04/20/2013 at 5:32 pm #1969766When the time comes, I hope it doesn’t get rejected because it is too close to another cache!

Could it be said that bartrod has been “saving” the spot for 4+ years tho?

Ahh! Yes, it could 😀
And in anwer to Big Jim’s question, the cache web page is dated 7/11/2009…so would that make the FTF also eligible for the Lonely Cache Game points? I guess only its administrators could answer that. But it’s all academic until at least the end of August…or later…or later 🙄

04/23/2013 at 2:27 pm #1969770I think the LCG points will go by the publication date, not the cache page date.
Hopefully you get it all straightened out, Rod.
04/23/2013 at 2:43 pm #1969771Not sure how the LCG program gathers information, but as far as GC goes, it uses the date at the top of the cache page. Newly published caches won’t show up as “new” unless the date at the top is seven days ago or less.
Side note: Back in the day when we had dial-up, I couldn’t get the correct date on any of my cache submissions, and I had to ask the reviewers to change those to current for me. If I forgot to ask, or if I went in to edit something later, the date on the cache page would show up as some time in 1901.
I think that would trump Bartrod’s languishing project. 😉
04/24/2013 at 12:13 am #1969772Now that we have the LCG administrators sweating and rewriting the rule book, I think I’ll just change the date when/if it ever gets published.
And I’m sticking with my claim to the record…the sandlanders’ claim is inconsequential. “Trivial challenges will not take precedence over the ‘real thing'”…I found that in my rule book 8)Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)
04/24/2013 at 10:20 am #1969773Date of publication not date of submission. Is that what you all think, to? There’s a puzzle master who is seldom seen in these parts up here but has several spots “saved” and when they publish, it’s not uncommon to see a date 1-2 yrs different.
