We are trying to put a photo up on our own cache page. Not in the gallery but right on the page. Can someone give us an easy, not too much tech talk way to do that? We were at a museum and found a drawing of the “Treaty Tree” where we have our cache and thought it would really enhance the page.
    Thanks,

Here is one thread on this:

The advantage to putting the image in the cache gallery first, then linking to that image to display it on the cache page, is that you always know where that image will be hosted and it is “connected” to the cache page, versus living on another site like photobucket, the WGA album, or wherever.

I upload pics I want to post to photobucket (http://www.photobucket.com).
Once the pic is loaded on photobucket…….scroll your mouse over the pic you want to copy. LEFT click on the “IMG” from the drop down list that shows under he pic you chose (the code will change colrs to tell you i is highlighted). RIGHT click on the now highlighted code (this will copy it to your clip board). Go to the page you want & then paste the code into where you want the pic.

    Hope this helps.

Here’s kinda the “non technical” way of thinking about it.

-Your picture has to be “On the Internet” somewhere. This can be on a photo sharing site (photobucket), your own website (http://www.mywebsite.com/photo.jpg), or even on another website you don’t own. The problem with these options, particularly the last, is that they are subject to being changed when you least expect it! That’s why we tend to first upload the picture we want to the cache gallery itself, because it will be there as long as geocaching.com is there.

-You need to put a line of code in the cache description that says where to find the image. The simplest code is where “details” is the location where your picture lives.

-To find out the “details,” go to the image on the Internet, and right click it (usually). For instance, try it with our avatar to the left. Choose “properties” from the menu list, and it will show an address. That big mess of stuff is what you need.

From there, you can tinker with how the image displays, etc., but at least that will get it on your description page. Just be sure to click the “HTML” box when you are working on the page description.

Okay I will let Jim know this info… it is in the gallery of the page already so he just needs to cut and paste the info from there.

thanks bunches for all the easy to understand instructions.
