So the inevitable happended, and my beloved Magellan GPS 315 has dissappeared. I’d like to blame my 21 mo old daughter, as she has a habbit of picking things up and moving them on me and my wife. We’ve searched high and low and in both vehicles, garage, and basement. I’ve had this thing forever and it’s seen me through lots of trips, caches, and geo-campouts.

So I’m looking for some real world Wisconsin experiences with either of the two units. It is used mainly for caching, but I would like the mapping feature and color.

Why did I pick these two units to consider?

    1. The Quest 2 is the same unit as the Jeep Trail Guide which is one of my choices, but I figured more people would have experience with the Quest.
    2. The GPSMap 60csx has all the bells and whistles.

    Any feedback would be appreciated

some comments to go along with my vote ….

If you’re looking at a unit for geocaching, I’d go with the 60CSx.

Both units are nice pieces of equipment, but the 60CSx strikes me as being much more sturdy than the Quest2 (especially that flip up antenna).

I’m also not a big fan of built-in Lithium batteries (which the Quest2 has), when you could select a piece of equipment like the 60CSx that accepts removable batteries (disposable or rechargeable). What happens if your built-in battery dies in the woods? What about the big expense of replacing the battery when it’s usable life is up in a year or less.

Also, the 60CSx has built-in Compass and Altimeter … not that these a big deal, but your getting more features for less money.

😛 I’d say save yourself $50 and go with the 60cx. Its got both color and mapping capabilities but no compass or altimeter. Thank you for choosing Garmin – their customer is the best I’ve ever encountered anywhere for anything.

=”… their customer is the best I’ve ever encountered anywhere for anything.

Which of Garmin’s customers is the best? 🙄
I’d like to meet him or her. 😉
It’s not often you get to meet a large company’s best customer! 😆

I’d second Sean Connery’s comments. Also, pay attention to sales and rebates. I ended up buying a 76Cx for less than the best price I could get on a 60CSx. These two are basically the same unit except the 76 is buoyant and has a different case/layout/form factor. The functionality is identical and I believe the screen size is identical as well.
