Last night several people pointed out to me that the recent logs on the WGA website were not updating following the geocaching.com change.
The recent log page still exists on geocaching.com, but it has been reformatted enough to throw our harvester off. I should be able to tweak things to get it working tonight. It also looks like geocaching.com may be generating the recent logs page differently (waiting until there are 200 new logs before changing the page), which may reduce the number of “misses” we have.
01/13/2010 at 3:32 pm #1920145Do what you can, Jeremy. Thanks. I miss the Recent Logs. 🙁
01/13/2010 at 3:34 pm #1920146I had no idea this even existed which I guess is my own ignorance and not searching through the whole site. It does explain, however, people “stalking” me. 😆 😆
01/13/2010 at 4:09 pm #1920147I noticed it, too, and miss it. But I guess if I had to choose where you spend your time, Jeremy, spend it changing the website so everyone can move on to the next big thing! 😉
01/13/2010 at 4:17 pm #1920148Our recent logs app is the best thing since sliced bread. I use it to read logs on my own caches even as I am away from my home email a lot.
And I love to stalk CodeJunkie all the time 😉
Thanks for looking into it Jeremy.
01/13/2010 at 4:32 pm #1920149gotta say I have never looked at it….but if it’s there is might as well work.
Thanks Jeremy.01/14/2010 at 12:26 am #1920150Have to admit using it, I like being to see where the activity for caching is going on and who has been out finding while I’m stuck at work. Also it comes in handy to catch up on people and see where they are numbers/activity wise.
01/14/2010 at 3:23 am #1920151Actually, Zuma turned me onto one of the features I now check regularly, being able to see which caches have been recently archived. Sometimes it can be a bittersweet trip down memory lane. Nice to see what friends are up to as well.
01/14/2010 at 3:40 am #1920152Before we went premium and had the notification options, the recent logs list was how I could see when new caches were published, for the most part. There are also the tabs at the top to check out some of the logging stats, too. And it’s interesting to see other states/countries come up as Wisconsin cachers travel and find caches in different places.
01/14/2010 at 8:34 pm #1920153Looks like it is back up and running again.
01/14/2010 at 9:57 pm #1920154Yes, the recent logs harvester was fixed this morning and it appears to have picked up all new logs this afternoon. The changes to geocaching.com were essentially cosmetic so only minor tweaks were required.
You can resume your normal geo-stalking activities. 🙂
01/14/2010 at 10:10 pm #1920155Yeah! Thanks for your work on this Jeremy. The stalkers appreciate it.
01/15/2010 at 12:20 am #1920156Thank you Jeremy for fixing it and all the other web work you do for us on this site! 🙂
01/15/2010 at 12:34 am #1920157I’ve died and gone to heaven! Let the geo-stalking resume!
01/15/2010 at 12:49 am #1920158I know, isn’t it great? Did you see this cool new series of BakRdz? We might be able to nail a few of those this weekend, even.
I am always fascinated by remnants of boomtowns as they stand today.
