I know Team BlackCat mentioned something on the book of faces about no more API support from geocaching for Windows phones. Is this also why the recent logs haven’t updated in a couple days?
05/08/2016 at 10:43 am #2049448I am sadly ignorant of all things techie but I believe that it is Geocaching HQ that is giving us the trouble on this one. They keep changing things on what is allowed for us to link to. Every time they make a change TBC has to re-write script and find a way to make it work. I believe he’s getting to the point of not wanting to do this anymore because it’s time consuming and doesn’t seem to last very long. This feature may be going away, we’re thinking about it. Maybe someone more tech-savvy could jump in here with a better explanation.
And on a related note, we’re still looking for a new webmaster but short on volunteers that will stick to the job. If anyone knows anyone capable of doing this, please ask them to consider the position.

05/08/2016 at 12:52 pm #2049451Yes, this is most likely why the recent logs has not updated. Many of the awesome things you see on the website come from the fertile mine of Team Black Cat and are custom programs he has created. When the Frog updated or changes something it has a ripple effect. We have had luck in the previous months with the Recent Logs starting up on its own. We may be able to put our new webmaster MTCLIMBR on this as he starts to navigate through the site.
Mr Stotle has fixed the WGA Cache Banner section by inserting a text box to keep the WordPress software from mucking up our html test. It kept putting quotes in odd spots, keeping the banners from working.

05/08/2016 at 6:01 pm #2049456I would be disappointed to see “recent logs” go away. It’s the topic I visit most often.
05/09/2016 at 7:13 am #2049462Thank thanks for the explanation. I’d hate to see it go as well, but understand that people like TBC and MTCLMBR have lives, too. Thanks to both of them for taking on the technical stuff to keep our site alive.
05/09/2016 at 11:01 am #2049469We will see both this weekend at the campout so maybe we can discuss it with them there smart people.

05/10/2016 at 10:03 am #2049514I’ll try and take a look at it soon within the next few days as it seems it still isn’t working. I haven’t messed with the APIs yet but no time like the present to learn.
But sadly as of current I won’t be making the campout this weekend 🙁

Thanks Brian for again giving it CPR and bringing it back to life.

06/06/2016 at 4:45 pm #2050116Yep you got that right Mr. TBC has spent a few hours looking into it. The prognosis does not appear good. Less than 2 weeks out of the last fix.
