I recently stated this Geocaching hobby/adventure (whatever) in early August. My son purchased a GPS unit several years ago and shortly after that he joined my wife and I on a day trip to Chicago and brought it along. Since I’m usually the driver my wife got to play with it during the trip and fell in love with it – so she purchased one of her own. My wife and I travel around the country on bird watching trips and she really found it usefull. Late January of this year my position at work was eliminated – so I decided to take up Geocaching. My son is showing me the ropes on how all this works. I’m really enjoying the experience. I always enjoyed hiking and now have a reason to go – I have already visited several parks in the area that I never knew existed. I even started to take the grandkids out to find a few caches – I decided to do that after reading the book “The Last Child in the Woods”…
Welcome to the great adventure…lots of friendly folks here to help you with questions. Don’t be afraid to ask 😀

Another one joins the cult. Welcome.
“The Last Child in the Woods” is an incredible book. Our kids were out for much of their childhood, and our brand new grandson’s already been out once. Welcome to the fun!
