This sticky forum topic is provided for WGA members to share their recommendations regarding good places to stay (hotels, motels, campgrounds) in this region.

When you make a recommendation, please provide as much information as you can. At a minimum we need the name of the hotel or campground as well as the city/town where it is located. We are all geocachers, so the coordinates of the establishment would also be helpful. 🙂

If there is a need to edit or delete your recommendation at a future date, just post a note in this topic and one of our forum admins will take care of making the change.

Thanks in advance for your recommendations!

    White Lace Inn, Sturgeon Bay

For the past two years, we’ve planned off season getaways to Door County, staying at the White Lace Inn. If you choose to stay off season, Sunday through Thursday, you will get the rooms for half the price of the high season. We’ve stayed for 70-80 bucks a night. The inn has a main house with several rooms, plus some small homes centered around a garden. The rooms have fireplaces and are appointed as one might expect in such lodging, with private baths. This bed and breakfast has been featured in Midwest Living, and rightfully so.

If you plan your trip to include a Thursday night stay, a local group, Random Orbit, is playing in the main house. Fun time! There are always cherry granola cookies in the cookie jar, and the breakfast is delicious and great fuel for a day of caching fun. Dennis and Bonnie are very knowledgeable about the area and can provide recommendations for anything you might want to do while staying here.

As a side note to Trekkin’ and Birdin’, call ahead in the off-season and ask if they’d consider a 2 nights for the price of 1 deal. Some bed and breakfast establishments are willing to do that. We stayed at the Reynold’s House in Sturgeon Bay last weekend by doing just that…and Heather’s breakfasts are to die for 😀
In the past, the wife and I have also stayed in Port Washington and Cambridge on similar deals. It never hurts to ask 😀

    Oconto...the birthplace of western civilization:)
