This sticky forum topic is provided for WGA members to share their recommendations regarding activities, attractions, and locations to experience in this region. These recommendations may or may not be geocaching related. For example, you could use this topic to recommend a trip to a county park with a few geocaches along with many other interesting things to do and see. Or you could suggest attending a local festival or event held at a certain time each year.
When you make a recommendation, please provide as much information as you can. We are all geocachers, so coordinates for locations would also be helpful. 🙂
If there is a need to edit or delete your recommendations at a future date, just post a note in this topic and one of our forum admins will take care of making the change.
I placed a cache at the Holt & Balcom Logging Camp in Lakewood this summer. The camp put on a program in July called “Ladies of the North-Holts, Housewives, and Hookers” that was attended by on overflow crowd. Lucy Holt was the wife of one of the lumber barons of the 1800s. The housewives had to tend the “store” while the guys were out lumberjacking in the winter months. And the hookers…well, you know! This program is having a repeat performance at Oconto City Hall at 6:30 on Tuesday, Aug. 11th (I should have posted this sooner.) If you like history, it’s well worth the $5 donation 😀
