Howdy–
I know there is the winter attribute on caches, but I’m wondering if there are any caches in N.E.W. that y’all would recommend as not just available in winter, but best to do in winter, either for the “coolness” or “better to try when approach is frozen” factor. Navarino Bob and the Long Tail Point lighthouse caches are two that come to mind; any others?
On the Left Side of the Road...
Wet Maze, west of Fond du Lac.
Nifty Fifty – not sure what way I’d recommend though, if you get the coords right on it would only take 1 hole….
Cedar Springs Creek Cache – that would be better as long as the snow isn’t too deep, the mosquito’s were killer on that one.
I probably would avoid the old man ones along the river in appleton ONLY because getting to them is a good challenge even when dry. Otherwise they are cool finds.
Maple Hills Recreation Area – nice little area to walk through, was hot and buggy when I went. I think its ski trails in the winter but would be a good stop.
I think labrat_wr has disabled a few out by wild rose that I only tried one and that one would definitely be better when the ground was solid.
I could go through my list of finds but those are the ones that came to mind.
Thanks for the PLUG SPLASH yes bring your ski’s or snow shoes and go find Maple Hills Recreation area!
Not sure which ones Splash is talking about but those I have disabled should be enabled by the weekend as I have the approval of the WCPD now. There are several that could be better with a little frozen ground to walk on. (not that it’s guaranteed the ground is frozen 😉 )
